Week 39

CLOSING OUT
As we close another successful school year, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for their partnership and support. This year, our students demonstrated tremendous academic growth, embracing challenges and making meaningful progress in their learning.
Just as importantly, we focused on filling each other’s social-emotional buckets by building kindness, empathy, resilience, and strong relationships throughout our school community.
We were also honored to receive two special recognitions this year, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our students and staff. While we celebrate these accomplishments, our work is not done.
Summer is a wonderful time to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with family, but it is also an opportunity to continue learning, reading, exploring, and growing.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall, refreshed and ready to build on this year’s success and make the new school year even stronger.
Summer School
June 20 - July 22
Multnomah will host Summer School; however, 93% of the teachers providing instruction will be from other school sites. If you signed up for Summer School, you should receive a confirmation letter this week with your student's assignment. We have over 250 students signed up for the program. Students who do not attend will be dropped from enrollment to support the wait list.
Tentative Summer School Schedule
8:00–8:25 a.m. – Breakfast in the Pavilion
8:30 a.m.–12:20 p.m. – Instruction
This year, there will be no art teacher and no field trips during Summer school. Students will receive 3.5 hours of instruction each day, along with a 20-minute recess break.
If you need Beyond the Bell childcare, you must complete a separate application through Beyond the Bell. Simply checking that beyond the bell services is needed does not fulfill the application process. Ms. Cynthia has applications available in the main office. Applications must be submitted and approved by Beyond the Bell staff before students may begin attending the program, which operates from 12:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. They will personally give you a call to confirm.
Beyond the Bell
12:20 pm - 6:00 pm (once enrolled)
College/Career Banners
Many hands make light work!
Thank you to the parents who helped take down the College and Career banner outside our school so it could be prepared and sent home. We also appreciate your support in allowing us to feature your photogenic children along our school fence to promote college and career readiness.
The banners are now ready for you to display at home!
We look forward to launching our new campaign this Fall and hope you will join us in continuing to inspire college and career readiness.
26-27 Parent Volunteers
Now Open
The Parent Volunteer Portal is up and running and open for you to begin the application process. Remember, if you want to support us in any campus events: Fall Festival, Literacy Parade, Science Fair, Art Fest OR attend a field trip as a chaperone, you must first be a pre-approved volunteer.
If you are a returning volunteer, it's very easy. Just fill out your application.
If you are a new volunteer, we do require a TB test on file. A TB test is good for 5 years.

Culmination
June 8th
5th Grade Culmination Information
The 5th Grade Culmination will take place in the MPR. There will be two separate ceremonies.
First Ceremony – 8:30 a.m.
- Mrs. Quiñones' class
- Parents may enter campus beginning at 8:05 a.m., after students have reported to their classrooms.
- Please be mindful of posted street signs and do not park in the valet drop-off area.
Second Ceremony – 10:30 a.m.
- Ms. Ramirez's and Mrs. Santana's classes
- Parents may enter campus beginning at 10:00 a.m.
For both ceremonies, entry will be through the main gate, and exit will be through the side gate on Multnomah Street near the staff parking lot.
Students should arrive at school at the regular start time and remain with their classes. Teachers will escort students to the MPR when it is time for their culmination ceremony.
Students should dress nicely for the occasion; however, clothing and footwear should remain age-appropriate and safe for school activities and grounds.
If you plan to take your child to celebrate after the ceremony, a QR code will be printed on the program for you to sign your child out electronically. Please do not leave campus with your child until you have shown a staff member your confirmation receipt from the Google Form. No blue slips required for grade 5. The Google form will suffice.
If you plan to bring a younger sibling to attend the ceremony, you must first check that child out through the main office. Please do not go directly to the classroom. Once checked out, your child will be sent to the main office to meet you. Blue form required for TK-4th grade students.
Seating Information
Seating in the MPR will not be reserved, and seat saving will not be permitted. Guests may sit in any available seat that is not physically occupied.
We know there are many stories and videos of families disagreeing over seating at graduation and culmination ceremonies. That will not be us. We are a supportive and respectful community that is here to celebrate our students and their accomplishments. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us create a positive experience for everyone.
Accessibility Accommodations
Families who require an accessibility accommodation are encouraged to contact the school office in advance if special accommodations are required.
Guests who need an accessibility accommodation may enter with up to one companion prior to the general admission time and wait just outside the MPR (lunch pavilion area) rather than in line. For the first ceremony, early entry will begin before 8:05 a.m. For the second ceremony, early entry will begin before 10:00 a.m.
To ensure fairness for all families, early accessibility entry does not allow seats to be saved for additional family members. Seating remains first come, first served for all other guests.
Additional Reminders
- If you bring balloons, please place them in the back of the MPR so they do not obstruct anyone's view.
- If you bring infants or young children, please bring any items needed to help comfort them should they become upset during the ceremony.
Thank you in advance for your support in making this a beautiful and memorable event for our young scholars as they celebrate their first academic milestone.
Multnomah Store
Monday or Wednesday
Students will be invited to spend their hard-earned Multnomah money at the school store on either Monday or Wednesday this week. We have stocked the store with some favorite items from the past, as well as several new additions. To keep the store exciting and engaging, we regularly survey students to learn what items they would like to see available for purchase.
Some students have been diligently saving their Multnomah money throughout the year in order to purchase higher-priced items. We are proud to see students demonstrating patience, goal-setting, and smart decision-making. Great job building your financial literacy skills!

Tuesday, June 9th
On Tuesday morning at 9:30-10:30, parents of student performers are welcome to come watch the special 5th grade talent show. In the audience will also be the 5th grade students.
Parents sign in at the main office and proceed to the MPR.
