Message from Nicole Pease, Principal
Dear DCS families, when a newsletter is not shared with you on Friday, it is an indication of a very busy week! Indeed, last week was filled with a lot of fun and wonderful things! Thursday began with the 4th and 5th graders travelling to SMS for a tour with other incoming students. It was so special to see all the nerves morph into excitement about next year. That evening our PTO coordinated Silent Auction and Game/Dance Party event was in full swing. Despite games being out and ready to play the students dove into full dance party mode and displayed their best moves on the stage. Thanks so much to the PTO for planning this event!
Friday became the student identified "Miss Vicki" day in honor of Vicki Brown's retirement at the end of this year. As students entered the building to start the day, each student handed her a flower and shared some kind words. This was so moving! The irony is that Vicki took these flowers and created beautiful bouquets for her retirement party after school. The special moments for Vicki were not over-grades 1/2 created an amazing book with all kinds of fun activities and connections to happen at the beach (one of Vicki's special places). The afternoon of Miss Vicki Day brought the biannual whole school kickball game! We hiked up the hill to the Dublin baseball field, were met by Dublin and Harrisville Police as well as some Dublin Fire Department members for an amazing game! We had so many parents join and it was a fun filled (and hot) afternoon. Thanks so much to Heather Fletcher for coordinating.
Friday afterschool brought Vicki Brown's retirement gathering. Many colleagues joined as well as families, and it was a perfect event planned by Jo-Ann Hopkins. We will mis Vicki so very much, she is an essential part of the fabric of DCS; what is making this bearable is knowing she is stepping into the next chapter in her life! Take care, Nicole
