Wow! What a busy few weeks it has been!!

The basketball team have had a positive start to their season by taking an awesome attitude with them onto the court in the new gym. They commented that the balls were super bouncy, which made dribbling tricky. Both of the teams have been working well together, passing the ball, setting each other up for the shot when someone else was in a better position.

I had the great pleasure of taking Michael and Fletcher to Wētā Workshops last week for a special tour. They also worked with some of the Wētā staff to create amazing creature puppet heads using cardboard and tinfoil. What an amazing experience! The Wētā Workshops team really pulled out all of the stops for us!

Remember, it is not too late to order school photos. See the information on Hero, or message Zoe in the office for more information.

Finally, it has been great to see so many students participating in our cross-country practices. The students have been doing well to improve their fitness ahead of the cross-country event at Kahutara School on Thursday. Fingers crossed for fine weather!

Pink Shirt Day this Friday!! Pink Shirt Day this Friday!!

Please help us to promote peace and prevent bullying by wearing pink on Friday!

We all have the power to create a kinder Aotearoa. Pink Shirt Day is about coming together to celebrate diversity in all its forms, and supporting schools, workplaces, and communities to be safe, supportive, welcoming, and inclusive. It’s a reminder to stand alongside anyone affected by bullying, and to nurture inclusivity, kindness, and understanding. By taking part and wearing pink on Friday 15 May, our school will show our commitment to creating a kinder, more inclusive environment where all tamariki and rangatahi feel safe, valued, and respected regardless of who they are.

There were so many positive comments about the quantity and quality of food, and the positive and humming atmosphere. PERFECT!

All of the smiling helpers were certainly the icing on the cake - or the rice with the curries ;-D

A special shout out to the teachers for all of their time organising everything both before and on the day; to the Tawera who worked all weekend helping in all sorts of ways such as runing errands, shifting furniture and selling drinks; to Leah for helping long hours on both days, and helping move lots of the heavy furniture; to Erin and Kerry McBride for coming in both days to sell preserves, and for kindly donating their proceedes; to members of the St Teresa's Parish for helping our cause by donating yummy food and/or helping in the cafe; and to all of you - our school whānau - for your donations of food, time, or both!

Without you all, we could never have achieved what we did.

The staff and students here at St Teresa's School are so blessed to have such wonderful supporters.

If you have any photos from the weekend, can you please forward them to me? Particularly of the students performing Kapa Haka at the Fish and Chip opening night. It turns out that I am a shocker for forgetting to pull out my camera for events like this! principal@teresas.school.nz

As some of you have discovered, there is a short supply of our school uniform at the uniform shop in Masterton at the moment. We are unsure why this is the case, and are currently working with the team to resolve this issue. Please bear with us. In the meantime, we do have a small selection of secondhand uniform here at school in varying conditions, that you are welcome to have a look at.

Also, please note that the uniform shop is no longer able to get our long-sleeved winter polo shirts. The students will now be able to wear the short-sleeved shirts all year round. To make sure your child is warm enough, they are able to wear a plain white or navy blue thermal underneath their school shirt. Please make sure that the thermal is not visible at the neckline, so it can be hidden underneath their polar fleece.

We also have a small selection of brand new size 10-16 navy blue polar fleece vests available for purchase. These are no longer available at the uniform shop, but if you think your child/ren would wear one, and would like to buy one, please get in touch with Zoe in the office. These can be a great addition to the winter uniform as an extra layer, and can be just the thing for the slightly cooler mornings in summer and autumn. The price ticket says $32.99, but please just make us a donation.

If you have any questions about our uniform, please visit our website for the complete list.

For a while now, we have been having trouble connecting with people who are ringing our landline number. Although the phone rings, we are unable to answer it, meaning that you either need to leave a message or Zoe has to ring you back. This is very frustrating for everyone! We have contacted numerous people to try to get this sorted, to no avail.

If you need to get in touch with us for any reason, PLEASE RING OR TEXT THE OFFICE CELL PHONE 027 733 1636

Your contact is important, and we would hate to miss something vital.

Alternatively, if the matter is not urgent or time sensative, feel free to contact your child's teacher directly on the school phone.
