School Board Monthly Update

Thank you for the opportunity to serve the children, families, and taxpayers of the Upper Darby School District. As part of the School Board communication plan, the Board sends monthly updates to the school community. The information included in these briefs is not intended to be complete and does not replace official Board minutes. Official meeting minutes, agendas, reports, and presentations are available at BoardDocs. Also, the Board meetings are livestreamed and available on our YouTube Channel. We welcome you to follow the issues the School Board is considering and to attend meetings to stay informed.

Ms. Christine Kelley, Director of Curriculum, presented a sample of the updated elementary progress reports. The progress reports will display grade level competencies, AIMSWEB data, attendance, and teacher comments. These updated electronic progress reports will be used in November at the end of the first marking period.

The Board has approved Twig Science Next Gen, a program aligned to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), for use in our elementary schools in the 2022-2023 school year. The program focuses on investigation, STEM integration, and real world phenomena. This program includes both print and digital access for teachers and students.

Mr. David Schwartz provided an update on the Eastern DelCo Bicycle Prioritization Study.

School Board meetings are held in person at Upper Darby High School. Meetings will also continue to be livestreamed to the District's YouTube Channel.
