Normal week. 🥰

Friday, October 23rd from 5-5:30 pm. This will include: President, VPs, Librarians, and Design Team.

3:45- 4:30 PM - Upper Bands sit in the grid and work on homework in the cafeteria. Study Hall. All Beginners need to GO HOME NORMALLY on this day. Your parents will need to drive you to the stadium to meet us there at 6:15 PM.

4:30-5:45 PM - Dinner - Eat Pizza in the cafeteria.. Watch a movie. Chill. (Upper Bands only.)

5:45 PM - Upper Bands load buses, depart for Kimbrough Stadium.

6:15 PM Stadium opens and groups start arriving and meeting in the bleachers. BEGINNERS ARRIVE AND SIT ABOVE OTTO. We will have a section reserved for our upper bands, and a different section reserved above the Upper Bands to use for our Otto Beginners and all Otto Families. Wear your band shirt and jeans to show your support! Beginners DO NOT bring your instrument to this event. Just your parents. :)

7:00 PM - McMillen HS performs their marching show

7:15 PM- Williams HS performs their marching show

7:30 PM- Plano East Senior High performs their marching show

7:45 PM- Otto, Bowman, and Murphy Bands combine together with the High School to Build EAST on the field. (Only 7th and 8th graders)

8:05 PM- Hold still for a special aerial drone photo in the EAST formation all together! (Beginners are in the stands with their families still.)

8:10 PM- All Bands perform Crunch Time together as one mass band on the field!

8:15 PM- Otto Upper Bands meet at the back track scoreboard and wait to go to buses together. We will load percussion and tubas with parents, then release by bus to load and travel back to Otto. NO UPPER BAND STUDENTS MAY RIDE HOME WITH THEIR FAMILY. THIS IS A STRICT PLANO ISD POLICY. ALL UPPER BAND STUDENTS MUST RIDE BACK TO OTTO ON THE BUS. NO EXCEPTIONS. This is for your safety. Thanks!

Only Beginners ride home with their family from the stadium. All Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble members must ride home on the bus with the band.

Pick up from Otto for Upper Bands will be at approx. 9:00 PM from the back of the school- door 21 ONLY. Thank you!

All Otto Band members are required to attend and wear their new band shirt with blue jeans. Beginners do NOT bring their instruments. All upper bands bring instruments with NO BINDERS.

Our next jam session will be Friday, October 23rd, from 4-5 in the band ensemble room. Please practice your music. If you missed the audition, but are also interested in joining and play either Trombone, Trumpet, or Vibraphone/Aux Perc, please email Mrs. Harper. It's not too late to join! 🤩

If you can "Swing It!" I've heard your request, and the answer is YES! On Wednesdays when teachers do not have a faculty meeting, those of you that can come to a jam session for jazz are welcome to, but you must have a ride home at 4:50. You must check the Smore in advance, though, because Wednesdays are weird. Friday is still our main day, of course! 🫶🏼This Wednesday, October 21st, after the Pep Rally, we can meet.

All assignments will always be posted in their band Google Classroom in the Classwork tab and official grades will always be in Skyward. Each week, all students will receive a new objective sheet. Objective sheets are due each Monday and must be signed by a parent.

👕👕👕Parents- each year, all band students are required to purchase a band uniform t-shirt. We wear this to pep rallies, football games, concerts, and competitions. This year, shirts cost $13. cash or check made payable to Plano ISD. You may pay for your shirt anytime from now - 10.30. Just sent the fee with your child and they will give it to us in band. Thank you so much!

All volunteers will need to create an account and complete an application, online orientation and background check through the Plano ISD volunteer management system, VOLY, to be eligible for district/school volunteer opportunities. Please visit plano.voly.org to create a volunteer account and begin this process. These items will need to be completed by volunteers each school year.

An email will be sent to the volunteer applicant communicating the status of their application and criminal history search within 3-5 business days of completing these steps. Volunteers will need to complete the online orientation as well to be eligible to volunteer.

We have several options to choose from, but we recommend Tarpley or Music and Arts as these stores offer fantastic service and visit Otto regularly for instrument repair.

Tarpley or Music & Arts can deliver your instrument and supplies from our list to Otto.

We recommend Dallas Percussion for all percussion students' supplies (https://www.denverpercussion.com/dallas.htm) and https://texasmarimbas.com/ for their rental.

Private Lessons are the way to go! Please consider signing up your child for lessons!
