Kalahari Classic Signature Event

We are pleased to welcome you and your teams as we host this PUSH BACK competition at the Kalahari Classic Signature Event! With just a few days to go before our event, we wanted to share some final details concerning this event. Please feel free to share this with your teams & their families.

Just a reminder that this is a double header event as we host host two SEPARATE & SIMULTANEOUS events!

• The High School V5RC Waterpark Rampage and Middle School V5RC Signature Event will run as two separate events, but will run at the same time. There will be six elevated match fields, with three fields running simultaneously on each side.
• Each team will get 8 qualifying matches. Each event will have it's own finals matches. And, each event will have it's own set of awards!

• Teams will be given the opportunity to run exactly three (3) Driving Skills Matches and three (3) Autonomous Coding Skills Matches over the course of the 2-day event.

As we wrap up planning all the details to provide the greatest Signature Event experience for our participating teams, we need your help! We need volunteers for EIGHT DAYS of amazing competition events! Volunteers help make events run smoothly and play a critical role in every process, from registration to scoring to judging.

This may be a big ask, but would each team bring at least one volunteer? Coaches, parents, siblings, non-competing students team members? There are a variety of volunteer roles to choose from. No experience necessary. A volunteer t-shirt and lunch is provided for all full-day volunteers.

**All teams will experience at least eight (8) Qualifying Matches each.

Our plan...

• 3 competition fields for the Waterpark Rampage division
• 3 competition fields for the middle school division
• Competition fields will be on raised platforms
• We will have an ample amount of skills & practice fields. These will be located in the main Kalahari Ballroom and will be for STUDENTS ONLY.
• As the demand for skills increases, we will adjust, designating more fields for skills and less for practice. Your cooperation with this is appreciated!
• We do not have room in our pits for additional practice fields. Practice fields may NOT be set up in the Convention Center hallways and corridors.

1. Please make sure that you check in at the competition registration desk before entering the main event area. See map for details. There will be TWO registration windows open for team check in, one for high school teams and one for middle school teams.
2. Skills will run for a little bit prior to the team procession. They will re-open after the Opening Ceremony and stay open during qualification matches both Wednesday and Thursday.
3. Enjoy the team parade, a tradition at the Kalahari Classic! Each organization will walk onto the stage and have their picture taken as a group. Coaches can join if they want to! We encourage the teams to be as colorful as possible for this part of the proceedings! **All Practice Fields and Skills Fields will be CLOSED during the Team Procession and Opening Ceremony.**
4. SKILLS! We are excited to utilize a special software for our Skills queue, developed especially for the Kalahari Classic! Teams will scan a unique barcode on their team's driver badge to get in the Skills line using a check in, check out system. We'll share all the details and instructions at the event but just wanted to let everyone know!
5. Each team will have an 8-foot pit table.
6. Power will be provided at all pit tables. We encourage all teams to bring additional power strips to support charging all of your devises!

Diamond Lilly is returning as our Kalahari Classic apparel vendor!

We didn't get our online store setup in time for pre-orders, but they will have plenty of options for you to do your shopping in person at the event!

Diamond Lilly will accept cash or card payment.

The Kalahari Convention Center prohibits any "outside" food to be brought into the event. Please plan accordingly to plan lunch for your teams and adhere to these policies. There will be concessions available in the event area and there are also restaurants available in the main reception area of the resort. See map for details.

Teams will have the option to order whole pizzas at the concessions stand if you want to feed your entire team. Whole pizzas will not be available on demand, but should be ordered an hour in advance. We suggest you go to the Concessions room as early in the day as you can and pre-order your pizza so it's ready at lunchtime.

If you plan to share your team's experience at the Kalahari Classic with your local media outlets, we encourage you to use this communications kit provided by the RECF's Marketing Department.

They accept credit and mobile payments (Apple/Google Pay) as well as room charges through your RFID wristband. They also have kiosks to exchange your cash onto a Mastercard that can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted.

The hotel rooms in the Kalahari resort may come with a basket full of snacks and drinks. Nice, right?! Please enjoy if you wish but also know that these are NOT complimentary and you will be charged per item if they are missing. If you have rooms full of students staying for the event, you may want to warn them not take these treats or even put them away if you do not want the additional charges. We have asked that these snack baskets be removed from student rooms, but our request was denied. We just want you to be aware!
