E.O. Green Junior High School Families,

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We are excited about the many great things already happening at E.O. Green Junior High School.

We warmly welcome our sixth-grade students and families to the Green community. Welcome back to our seventh-grade families, and to our eighth-grade families, this is an important year as we work together toward high school and the path to promotion.

We have already had a successful Picture Day and completed student expectation presentations with every grade level. During these presentations, we discussed how students can be successful by maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA, attending school consistently and on time, demonstrating positive behavior, and making responsible choices.

As a uniform school, students are expected to arrive in the appropriate school uniform each day. Our uniform policy promotes safety, strengthens school pride, creates a sense of belonging, and helps students remain focused on learning. We appreciate your support in ensuring that your student comes to school prepared and in uniform.

Please also review the following important reminders:

  • Chromebooks are school property and should be used only for academic purposes. Students are responsible for caring for their devices. Damage or loss may result in fines or disciplinary action.

  • Attendance matters. Being present, on time, and prepared each day plays an important role in academic success.

  • Students will continue using IXL to strengthen their English and mathematics skills. IXL is available at school and at home.

  • Students are completing beginning-of-the-year assessments that will help teachers identify their strengths, areas for growth, and instructional needs.

Please join us for Back to School Night on Thursday, September 24, 2026, from 4:30 to 6:20 p.m. This will be an opportunity to meet your student’s teachers, learn about our programs, and hear how we can work together to support your student’s success.

Please note that Friday, September 25, 2026, will be a 1:00 p.m. early-release day.

Thank you for reviewing this important monthly information and for partnering with us. We look forward to a productive and successful school year as we continue to Lead with Purpose!

Warm regards,

D. Topi Sanchez

Community Schools Information Community Schools Information

E.O. Green Junior High School is proud to serve as a California Community School through our involvement in the California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP). This statewide effort is focused on reimagining public education by turning schools into centers of connection, support, and opportunity for students and families.

Being a CCSPP school means that we are committed to supporting the whole child. We understand that academic success is closely tied to health, emotional well-being, and strong relationships. That is why we are working to connect students with services that support their learning and their lives. This includes access to health and mental health services, family and community partnerships, and programs that reflect the strengths and needs of our school community.

Our approach is grounded in collaboration. By bringing educators, families, and community partners together, we are building a school culture where every student feels supported, seen, and prepared for the future. This work strengthens our shared responsibility and deepens our impact both inside and outside the classroom.

We welcome you to take a closer look at our goals and next steps by reviewing our Community School Implementation Plan.

Community Schools Coordinator

My name is Adeline Mendez, and I’m honored to return to E.O. Green Middle School—both as a dedicated alum and, now, your new Community School Coordinator. With 21 years of experience in education as a teacher and school administrator, I am deeply committed to advancing student success and fostering meaningful community partnerships.

Having grown up in this community, I truly understand the heart and values that make E.O. Green special. I’m excited to team up with students, families, staff, and local organizations to help:

  • Expand enriching after-school and enrichment programs
  • Strengthen family engagement and volunteer opportunities
  • Build community collaborations for academic and social supports
  • Emphasize health, safety, belonging, and student well‑being

My goal is to build bridges between our vibrant school and the broader community—to make E.O. Green a place where every student feels known, supported, and inspired.

I look forward to meeting everyone, hearing your ideas, and working together to continue the proud Hornet traditions and making a meaningful impact.

Warmly,
Adeline Mendez
