5 ESSENTIALS SURVEY FOR PARENTS

Parents and Guardians, there is still time to take the 5 Essentials survey. The survey provides an opportunity for students in grades fourth through eighth, teachers and parents/guardians to have a voice in improving their schools. Now through April 2nd, stakeholder groups are encouraged to take the 5Essentials Survey to help identify strengths and weaknesses in their school’s learning environment.

Parents/Guardians can fill out the survey by clicking the link below.

PLEASE READ THIS OFFICE REMINDER!

If in-person learning is selected, students must attend in-person unless there is an extenuating circumstance, which must be discussed with your child’s school for approval. Per approval, your child will be able to participate in remote learning.

If the extenuating circumstances are not approved by your child’s school, your child runs the risk of receiving an unexcused absence and will not be able to participate remotely.

PLEASE CALL YOUR CHILD INTO SCHOOL IF THEY ARE SICK OR THEY ARE USING REMOTE CODE!! If the office thinks the child is in person and they stay home with no call into school, this can become a safety concern. Leave a message on the office line or the Absence line. (630) 279-6160 ext. 2001 or email Kbeckwith@saltcreek48.org

No Frills Fun Run

This event--not sponsored by FTC--hits close to home with our District 48 family, and we want to share the information with you. No Frills Fun Run is exactly as it sounds--it is a fun run without the frills! This event was started 10 years ago by two moms in Elmhurst. Each year they choose one local family in need to receive 100% of the proceeds from all the funds raised through fundraising events, the race registration and the after party with raffle baskets and silent auction items. Marking its 10th anniversary, the No Frills Fun Run is on Sunday, February 28, 2021, and is helping four local people in need. One of the recipients is Mr. Lewicki's sister-in-law, Amy. You can click here to read her story and what she has been battling these past few years as well as the stories of the other recipients. You can read more about the No Frills Fun Run at http://www.nofrillsfunrun.org/index.html. Maybe you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to No Frills Fun Run. Maybe you are an avid runner and would like to participate in the run. Maybe you can keep these families in your thoughts and well wishes during their time of need. No matter how big or small the gesture, your kindness is appreciated by the recipients and their families!!

Questions? Please email ftc@saltcreek48.org for assistance. Thank you!!

FROM THE HEALTH OFFICE

All Illinois children in 6th grade, or any new student to the district (grades 5-8), are required by the state to provide school with proof of a dental exam by May 15, 2021. Any dental exam completed between November 2019 and May 15, 2021 will fulfill the state's requirement. If a dental exam form is not received by May 15, 2021, the school may hold the child's report card until proof of a dental examination form is received or until the school receives proof (ex: appointment card) that a dental examination will take place within 60 days after May 15, 2021.

Mr.Lewicki

  • How long have you worked in the district? Yikes..... I think this is my 15th year in the district.....(Although I may need to double check that....seems impossible.)
  • What is your job? I'm a PE and Health Teacher at AMS. I also am the Athletic/Activities Director and Coach of a variety of AMS sports
  • What is your favorite sport if you can only pick 1? Baseball has always been my first love and a sport I continue to play today.
  • Do you have any hobbies? My hobbies include many outdoor recreational activities. I'm fortunate to have a cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so I love to ski, snowmobile, and snowshoe in the winter and swim, ride ATV's, hike and fish in the summertime.
  • What is your favorite part of being in Kashwiki? I enjoy KashWicki for how we have a similar vision in making Albright Middle School Physical Education the best program in the entire state. I also appreciate that the "Kash" in KashWicki is able to put up with me as much as she does.
  • Do you have anything else cool to share with us? Yes. I'm announcing my retirement today which will be effective in June of 2040. It's been a wild ride, but it's time.
