FROM DOAN'S DESK....
WE NEED YOUR HELP as a parent participant!
Parent participation at the high school level is always a delicate balance. I know parents want to be included and involved, but often don’t have the time or feel like there are limited avenues to participate. Something we could use specific parent involvement with is our SAC - School Accountability Committee. Our SAC meets at Monarch and discusses relevant school issues ranging from operations, academics, assessments, improvement planning, and budget.
Parent accountability meetings are a Colorado Department of Education mandate, and we could use all the feedback and participation we can get. You can find out more from the CDE website about the required committees (click here).
Please email Principal Greg Doan at gregory.doan@bvsd.org with any interest in serving as a participant in our SAC. You will be added to the list of participants from last year and invited to our meetings (once a month, in the evenings). Thanks, and I look forward to getting as much help, support, and feedback from the MoHi parent community as possible.

GRAD +
Although the Fall semester has just begun, it’s not too early to start thinking about the Spring semester (January 2026). Students have the opportunity to earn college credits through concurrent enrollment courses. BVSD partners with Front Range Community College to offer three types of concurrent enrollment courses:
High School Select – Courses are taught at the high school by a BVSD instructor.
District Select – Courses are available only to BVSD students and are typically offered online, though some may include occasional in-person class meetings.
Campus Select – Courses are offered either at a FRCC campus or online.
In mid-October 2025, please reach out to your Grad+ specialist to discuss these wonderful tuition-free opportunities. Please email: kelly.isom@bvsd.org to schedule a meeting.

District Parent Council (DPC)
BVSD needs parents who would be strong representatives for the District Parent Council (DPC). DPC meetings are held in person at the Ed Center on the third Wednesday of each month. Meetings are collaborative, typically featuring two presentations followed by time for questions and discussion. The DPC representative is asked to share key takeaways with your school’s PTO/PTA.
Think you might be a great candidate? Follow this link to complete the DPC application form.
Free Dental Care
Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is a nonprofit organization that hosts a large-scale, two-day free dental clinic in a different Colorado community each year. Since 2007, COMOM has served more than 20,000 patients and provided over $18 million in donated dental services.
The clinics are open to anyone in need and are held in large venues—such as schools or event centers—that they transform into fully functional, 125-chair dental facilities. Over two days, patients receive cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions, dentures, and ceramic crowns—all at no cost. This effort is made possible through the support of nearly 200 volunteer dentists, along with hygienists, assistants, lab technicians, healthcare professionals, and hundreds of community volunteers. Beyond relieving pain, they restore oral health and appearance—helping patients regain confidence, dignity, and even employment opportunities.
This year, the clinic will be held in Loveland at The Ranch on October 17–18. They expect to serve more than 1,600 patients with the help of over 2,000 volunteers. Because of Loveland’s proximity, this could be a valuable resource for many BVSD students and families.

Cuidado Dental Gratuito
