LP School District Newsletter
May 22, 2026
Dear Bulldogs,
As another school year comes to a close, I want to extend my sincere appreciation to our students, staff, families, and community for making this year a year filled with growth, achievement, and Bulldog pride. The success of our students is a reflection of the strong partnerships and support that define our community.
Summer offers a chance to step away from busy schedules and enjoy the simple moments that matter most. I hope summer allows you the time to recharge and enjoy many of those special moments—whether that means time outdoors, family gatherings, community celebrations, or a little extra rest.
As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, I am excited for the opportunities that await us and confident that we will continue building on the momentum we created together this year.
Until then, have a safe, restful, and memorable summer!
Warmest regards,
Superintendent Melissa Radeke

SUN BUCKS
SUN Bucks is an income-based food support program that provides families with $120 per eligible school-aged child to buy groceries when school is out for the summer. Most eligible children are automatically enrolled. When children no longer receive free meals at school, their households might need extra help putting food on the table. The SUN Bucks program is designed to meet this seasonal need.
Eligible children get $120 on a SUN Bucks EBT card for the summer to spend on approved groceries. Learn more about eligibility here.
This program applies to school-aged children between the ages of 7-17 whose households participate in specific public assistance programs, or children who have an approved application to receive free and reduced-price school meals through the National School Lunch Program or the School Breakfast Program.
Please note: Students are not automatically eligible because of free meals offered at Lester Prairie Schools. Students must qualify for SUN Bucks through the Educational Benefits Application process. If you have not completed an application, please stop by the School Office to fill one out.

COUNSELOR CORNER:
School is officially out for the summer! After a busy school year filled with learning, activities, and routines, many students are looking forward to sleeping in, relaxing, and enjoying a well-deserved break.
While summer provides wonderful opportunities for fun and family time, it can also bring a lot more unstructured time. Children thrive when they have routines and clear expectations, so maintaining some structure throughout the summer can help support their emotional well-being, independence, and overall success.
It is also important to balance technology use with other activities. Encourage children to spend time outside, read, create art, ride bikes, play games with friends, help with household chores, visit the library, or explore nature. These experiences help build creativity, independence, and social skills while creating memories.
Wishing all of our students and families a safe, fun, and relaxing summer! We look forward to seeing everyone again in the fall.
