Dear Leeds Family,

Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year at Leeds Elementary! A new year brings with it new opportunities, fresh goals, and the excitement of seeing our Future Stars walk through the doors once again. There’s nothing quite like the energy of the first days of school filled with smiles, anticipation, and the promise of growth.

We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated team of custodians, paraprofessionals, office staff, teachers, and support staff. Their hard work behind the scenes and in classrooms ensures that Leeds continues to be a place where every student feels safe, supported, and inspired to achieve.

As we begin this year together, we want to highlight a few important reminders:

STAFFING UPDATES:

  • With the retirement of Mr. Schubert from his position as the Assistant Principal, I am happy to announce that Mrs. Morgen Nash will be the new Leeds Elementary School Assistant Principal.
  • We are also excited to welcome our newest Future Star staff members; Mrs. Megan Casey, Mrs. Katy Chartier, Mrs. Alison Finch, Ms. Megan DeLaRoi, Mrs. Kellie Skinner-Perez, Mrs. Stephanie Hersom, and Mr. Bryce Brewer.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS:

  • Consistent, on-time attendance sets students up for success. Please help your child arrive each day ready to learn and grow.

ABSENCES:

  • If your child will be absent, please notify the school as early as possible.

The 2025–2026 school year promises to be our best yet. We look forward to celebrating achievements and creating meaningful memories for our Future Stars. Thank you for being such an essential part of the Leeds community, we couldn’t do this without you.

Here’s to a joyful, safe, and successful year ahead!

Mr. Ron Koch
Principal, Leeds Elementary School

Hello!

I am Stephanie Roskilly and I am the Leeds Elementary School Counselor! I know many of you know me but I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself to those of you who may not and give you an idea of what a school counselor does!

This is my 5th year at Leeds and 9th year in the Sioux City Schools. I was previously in one of the high schools, where I worked with primarily freshman students. Coincidentally, or maybe not so if you know a freshman, that position prepared me very well for working with elementary students! I love working with students and am so excited to see all of your kids again, or for the first time, this fall!

As the School Counselor, I get to work with students individually, in small groups, and in their classrooms. I am fortunate to be able to work in their classrooms multiple times throughout the year where I teach about how your brain reacts to stress, conflict resolution, career readiness, and many other topics. Small groups can cover topics such as friendship, self-confidence, coping skills, behavior management, transition to middle school, plus many more. Individually, I work with students on a short-term basis. This means that I can support in the moment by providing and teaching coping skills, help solve smaller problems, provide check-ins or follow-ups on problems, and provide support in a crisis. I cannot provide long-term therapy for larger concerns, but I can help your family seek out additional support if requested. The reason these expectations exist is because I am only one person for all of the students in our building.

This year will look a little different as I am due to have my second baby in the middle of September! This means I will be out of the building from when the baby is born to the beginning to middle of November. If you need assistance for your student, please contact the school and they will help get you connected to some support.

I want to end by saying thank you. Thank you for all the support you will provide your student and their classmates. Thank you for supporting their teachers and all the other Leeds staff. And thank you for trusting us to care for and educate your amazing children.

I am so excited to begin this school year!

Stephanie Roskilly, Leeds School Counselor
