A Message from Your Principal Team
Dear Washington Families,
What an amazing first week of school! Our teachers have been busy welcoming students, building strong classroom communities, and setting clear expectations—all while getting to know each child. The hallways and classrooms have been filled with smiles, high-fives, and hugs as we kick off another exciting year together.
Thank you to all our families who joined us for Back-to-School Night! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces, meet new families, and reconnect with our community. We appreciate your partnership as we begin another great school year together. Go Eagles!
Let’s make this a great year—Go Eagles! 🦅
Warmly,
Alfredo Belanger, Principal
Antonio Ramos, Asst. Principal
Snapshots of the First Day of School!
🌟 Every Day Matters in Elementary School! 🌟
At Washington Elementary, we know that every school day is a chance for your child to learn, grow, and shine! When students attend regularly, they build strong reading and math skills, make lasting friendships, and feel a stronger sense of belonging in our Eagle community.
Even missing just a couple of days each month can add up, so let’s work together to make daily attendance a habit. If challenges come up — whether it’s illness, transportation, or anything else — please reach out. We’re here to partner with you and support your family, because when our Eagles are in class, they are soaring toward success!
If you have any questions regarding your students attendance, please feel free to give our office a call (971)-983-3050
Thank You for Attending the Back-to-School Night:
Thank you for such a wonderful turnout at Wednesday’s Back-to-School Night! Our teachers and all of us enjoyed meeting our new students and families, and reconnecting with those we knew from before. The evening left us energized and even more excited to start the year.
Kinder Orientation Night
It was great to see the all the families joining the our amazing kinder teachers. Our families received lots of information about our school, the first week and how to get involved in their young ones school journey. Thank you Kinder Team for sharing and thank you parents for getting off to a great first step for your young student.

STAR assessments this week
At Washington Elementary, one of the ways we support student success is through regular classroom testing. These assessments are not just “tests”—they are important tools that help teachers measure how students are growing in their learning. The information we collect allows us to see what students already know, where they may need extra support, and how we can adjust instruction to meet their needs.
By working together and using this data, we can ensure every Eagle continues to make steady progress toward their goals. Thank you for encouraging your child to do their best and for partnering with us in their learning journey!
Safety
No Cell Phone Policy 📱
Oregon Executive Order 25-09 aims to help foster student learning, well-being, and belonging by reducing distractions and promoting healthy, focused school environments. Our goal is to improve academic outcomes by ensuring students are fully engaged in learning within a distraction-free environment that supports their well-being, focus, and ability to thrive academically and personally. While students are allowed to have personal electronic devices*, they are restricted to using them only before school and after school. They must be off and away at all other times. Devices must be stored in backpacks or lockers and are not to be stored on students. If you are fearful of theft or loss, please leave the device at home.
*Personal Electronic Devices include any item that can send and receive phone calls, text messages, and access internet/social media. I.E. phones, watches, tablets, etc.
WSD Safe and Welcoming Schools
We want to reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every student, family, and staff member in Woodburn School District feels safe and welcomed in our schools. We recognize that concerns about immigration policies and enforcement can create stress and fear for many in our community, and we want to assure you that our schools remain a place of safety, learning, and inclusion for all.
