MVHS Book Club Update
Based on member requests, we've combined our MVHS Book Club with the Somewhat Virtual Book Club (SWVBC)! Students will connect online with high school book clubs nationwide (and beyond!) and even host guest author visits.
Schedule:
Wednesday 9/10 (11:30 AM / 4th Period): Virtual group meeting with partner schools & authors. Don't worry if you cannot make this meeting. Inquire in the library if you are doing well in your 4th period class and we can work with your teacher to excuse you.
Thursday 9/11: In-person gathering just for MVHS students to debrief and discuss.
First Read: Firekeeper's Daughter by Angeline Boulley
Kick off the year with this #1 New York Times bestselling YA thriller! An immersive, high-stakes story following eighteen-year-old Daunis Fontaine as she goes undercover to investigate a deadly new drug threatening her Native community. Packed with suspense, complex identity, and Ojibwe culture, it's a compelling mystery your student won't want to miss.
Encourage your student to drop by the library to grab a copy and join the conversation!
Chromebooks
Freshmen must swap last year's 8th grade device in for a new chromebook. Please stop by the library to exchange your device if you still have an older model.
As always, if you have technology questions, feel free to pop into the library. We are happy to assist.

Standard Response Protocols (SRPs)
This week, students reviewed our Standard Response Protocols (SRPs) during ELO. These procedures help ensure students and staff know how to respond quickly and safely in a variety of situations. Reviewing these protocols helps our school community stay prepared and understand what to do in the event of an emergency. We have included these procedures here so that you can review them with your students as situations arise throughout the year. Thank you for partnering with MVHS to keep your student safe!

Thompson Education Foundation Backpacks
Thompson Education Foundation's Help Kids Succeed school supply program provided almost 1,600 supply-filled backpacks for our economically vulnerable students this year.
Families should visit the school in which they are registered to receive a backpack. For example, if a requesting family has two students, one in 4th grade and one in 9th grade, they would need to visit both their registered elementary school and high school to receive backpacks. Supplies are different for elementary/middle/high school levels.
MVHS Food Pak
MVHS FoodPak is back. Our mission is to make sure every kid has food over the weekend. You can order food that will be delivered to a teacher or office of your choice and can be picked up after 2 pm on Fridays. This program is open to all students, just have your order in EVERY SINGLE Thursday, during the school year, by 1 pm. Just scan the QR code below, or ask a teacher or counselor for help.
