Middle School Book Club Enjoys Tea & Scones for The Bletchley Riddle!
The Middle School Book Club has been captivated by the fast paced, intriguing and code breaking story that takes place at Bletchley Park in England during World War II. To fully immerse themselves in the time period, students have been making recipes from the book including scones, cherry buns, hasty pudding and beans and toast! And, they are enjoying sipping English breakfast tea with all of the sweets and treats!
In the coming weeks, students will be participating in book club discussions, solving riddles, learning British lingo and going to the exhibit "World War II: Voices of Service" on display in the library.

World War II: Voices of Service Exhibition
Thanks to the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, we are hosting the traveling exhibition titled "World War II: Voices of Service" in the library. The exhibition guide states, "World War II: Voices of Service explores major events of the war through the photographs, letters, and oral histories of everyday Americans. From the attack on Pearl Harbor through the GI Bill, this traveling exhibition provides an overview of the important events on the battlefield and the home front."
The exhibition will be in the library for one month. Please stop by to check it out and teachers, please bring your classes! The Exhibition Guide is attached below.
Ken Cadow, author of Gather, is coming TOMORROW!
We have a great day planned tomorrow for Ken Cadow's visit! To start, he will be meeting with the Young Adult Diverse Books Book Club and the Student Panelists in the Library form 11:00-12:00. Then, he will be giving his author talk in the auditorium and a student panel will be asking him questions from 12:00-1:00. After his talk, the freshman class will be participating in an afternoon of activities inspired by the main character, Ian, and his dog, Gather. The activities include making fleece blankets and cat scratchers to be donated to Lucy McKenzie Animal Shelter, baking dog biscuits for a dog biscuit bake sale, doing forest exploration and visiting and reading with dogs from Vermont Therapy Dogs in the library.
