Hello ELC families,

It’s hard to believe, but the end of the school year is just around the corner! Our students have been hard at work preparing for Graduation and the excitement of Summer Camp. Each classroom has created their very own story to share, and we can’t wait to celebrate all their creativity and accomplishments with you at Graduation!

Be sure to read through this month’s newsletter carefully — it’s packed with important updates and event details you won’t want to miss. Please note that Summer Camp registration is now officially closed. Keep an eye out for the Summer Camp supply list, which will be posted soon!

As always, thank you for entrusting us with your wonderful children. It’s a joy and an honor to watch them grow every day.

Warmly,

-Catherine

What we've been working on...

Our classroom recently had the wonderful opportunity to collaborate with students from the Deaf Elementary School as well as the dedicated student workers at the FSDB Garden Center. This collaborative experience not only strengthened our sense of community but also provided meaningful, hands-on learning for all involved.

Just outside our classroom, we are fortunate to have a beautifully designed outdoor space that includes a series of garden boxes and a central seating area. While the space was already inviting, it was missing one essential element—vibrant, colorful flowers. Thanks to the support and generosity of the FSDB Garden Center, we were able to bring this vision to life.

The experience was further enriched when students from Deaf Elementary visited our class to read a story about plant growth to our younger learners. This heartwarming interaction not only reinforced literacy skills but also nurtured a spirit of mentorship and shared learning across age groups.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to making this project a success. Your support has helped cultivate not only a beautiful garden but also lasting connections between students and programs across our campus. Thank you for being a part of this memorable and impactful experience.

Spirit Week Highlights: A Fun-Filled Week of Learning Through Movement

Last week, our preschoolers celebrated Spirit Week with a variety of engaging and colorful activities that supported their creativity, social development, and motor skills!

One of the week’s highlights was our vibrant 1980s Glow Dance Party, where children moved and grooved under black lights to upbeat music. This lively event wasn’t just fun—it also provided wonderful opportunities for developing gross motor skills such as coordination, balance, and rhythm as the children danced and explored different ways to move their bodies.

Another exciting day was Tie-Dye Day, where students created their very own tie-dye T-shirts. This hands-on activity helped strengthen fine motor skills as the children twisted, wrapped, and secured fabric with rubber bands before carefully applying colorful dyes. The process encouraged hand-eye coordination and promoted creativity, while also giving them a keepsake to proudly wear and share.

In Ms Brittany's room...

It’s been a fun and busy week filled with creativity, movement, and memorable moments! The children practiced their gross motor skills by stretching their bodies like starfish during our morning movement sessions. They also spent time thoughtfully creating special Mother’s Day gifts—each one crafted with love and care.

We had an exciting photo shoot themed around The Wizard of Oz, where the children enjoyed dressing up and stepping into character. In the classroom, we played charades to encourage expressive language, imagination, and teamwork. A highlight of the week was joining our Kindergarten friends to help release butterflies as part of their life cycle unit—an inspiring moment of wonder for everyone involved.

One of the week’s most memorable moments was joining the Kindergarten class for a special butterfly release. After observing the caterpillars’ transformation, our preschoolers watched in awe as the butterflies spread their wings and took flight. It was a joyful, hands-on experience that sparked wonder and deepened the children’s connection to nature.
