Dear Sacred Heart Academy Families,
As we enter the month of November, we are invited to pause, reflect, and remember in a deeply meaningful way. As a Catholic school community, we observe November as a special time of prayer for the faithful departed, beginning with All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day. These days allow us to honour the saints who inspire us each day and lift up in prayer those loved ones who have gone before us, confident in God’s mercy and eternal love.
In our front foyer, we will place our Book of Remembrance. Each class will be adding the names of loved ones who have passed away - those we miss dearly and hold close in our prayers this month. We have also set aside a dedicated page for parents and families. I warmly invite you to stop by and write down the names of anyone you would like remembered whenever you visit the school. Together, our staff and students will pray with special intention for all those inscribed in our book throughout November.
Faith Focus: Solidarity & St. Óscar Romero
Our school-wide "Many and One" focus this month centers on the Catholic Social Teaching of Solidarity, reminding us of the unity and responsibility we share as members of Christ’s family. Together, we are many, yet in Christ, we are one - bound by love, service, and prayer.
This month, Saints Quest introduces St. Óscar Romero and the principle of solidarity. St. Romero stood side-by-side with those in need. Students are invited to practice solidarity by reaching out to classmates who feel alone, learning about our global neighbors, and standing up for others. Throughout the month, our staff will continue encouraging students to live out this commitment by caring for one another, acting with compassion, and being a positive, uplifting presence in our school and broader community.
Remembrance Day Observance
November is also a time of solemn gratitude as we prepare to honor those who have served and sacrificed for peace and freedom.
- Remembrance Day Service (Presented by 2S): Tuesday, November 10 at 10:45 AM (Families are invited to join us).
- No School: Wednesday, November 11 in observance of Remembrance Day.
Upcoming Parent-Teacher Interviews
Parent-Teacher Interviews will take place on Thursday, November 19. Connecting directly with your child’s teacher is an invaluable opportunity to celebrate growth, discuss learning goals, and strengthen the vital partnership between home and school.
- Booking details and time slots can be accessed via Conference Manager.
- If you are unable to make an appointment on the 19th, please do not hesitate to reach out directly to your child’s teacher to arrange an alternative time to connect. Ongoing communication ensures every student receives the care and support they need to thrive.
Staffing Update & Good News
- Please join me in congratulating Mrs. MacDonald (Grade 1) and her husband as they prepare to welcome their first child in the new year! We hold Mrs. MacDonald and her growing family in our prayers during this joyful time.
A friendly reminder that the bus loop area is off-limits for student drop-off and pick-up. This area must remain clear to allow our school buses to safely enter, load, unload, and exit. For the safety of all students, please use the designated parent drop-off and pick-up areas.
May this month of November bring reflection, unity, and peace to your homes. Thank you for your continued partnership, leadership in the home, and prayers as we grow together in faith and learning.
Wishing you and your families a blessed and meaningful month,
Mr. Hanson
