Welcome to Harvest Green!

Dear Students, Parents, and RE Community,

Salgirah Mubarak to you and your family! We hope that you've all had wonderful Salgirah moments with your family and friends.

Student-Led Conferences are happening next week! This is a wonderful opportunity for students to share their learning, reflect on their progress, and celebrate their achievements with their families. Please check with your child’s teacher for information on how to sign up for a conference session time slot. Student and Family attendance is required, as these conferences are an important part of supporting your child’s growth and success.

Grade Level Learning Highlights

7th Grade

We dove into the idea of Tawhid—the Oneness of God. We talked about how this belief connects all the Abrahamic faiths back to Prophet Ibrahim. Instead of looking at it as just a textbook idea, we explored how the Qur'an invites us to see the whole world around us as connected, full of purpose, and reflecting God.

8th Grade

Last week, students explored tawhid—the belief that Allah is One, transcendent, and unique. As a foundation of Muslim belief, tawhid shapes how Muslims understand their relationship with Allah, their purpose, and the world around them.

9th Grade

In the past week, our students explored understandings of having the blessing and the privilege to see, hear, and have access to the Imam of the Time and explored the transition from our Mawlana Shah Karim (a.s.) to our beloved Hazir Imam Shah Rahim. Students also engaged in exploring the Period of Dawr al Satr (150 years of concealment of the Ismaili Imams and the community under the Abbassids).

10th Grade

This week, students “travelled” along the Silk Road through an interactive game, exploring how trade connected people and shaped the development of Muslim societies. Along the way, they discovered how goods, ideas, and beliefs spread across regions, including through the journeys of Ismaili da‘is. They also examined how the spread of the plague disrupted communities and trade, leading to changes in trading patterns.

Our RE community is made special by the many cultures, languages, traditions, talents, and experiences represented by our students and families. This month is Diversity October and we're inviting students to share a little bit about what makes them unique. From the instruments they play and the languages they speak, to the foods they love and the traditions that are meaningful to them. We hope to celebrate these differences and discover the many things that make our community so wonderfully diverse. Parents and Guardians, if you would like your child to be featured in our announcements and/or newsletter, please take a moment to let us know in our Diversity October Form. Students, be sure to look for yourself on our Harvest Green Announcements during classes.

We kindly request all families to please follow the directions of our school volunteers and staff when arriving to pick up your child. Our volunteers are here to help keep the pickup process organized, efficient, and most importantly, safe for all of our students. Please follow their instructions regarding where to stop, when to pull forward, and where your child should be picked up.

We also want to continue to encourage our students to come forth and recite Dua and Tasbih in the Harvest Green Management Office during Wednesday and Friday STEP Classes. In order to be considered for a spot, please complete our Recitation Interest Sign Up Form and await a confirmation from our Management Team. All students are welcome to sign up to participate.

We always encourage families to connect with their child's educator with any concerns you may have. You can always reach out to us via our email harvestgsecondary@gmail.com. We similarly encourage you to stay connected with our Harvest Green Resource Site including:

✨ Quote for Students

"If I could express one hope for all of you, as you leave this place today, it is that you will appreciate even more deeply how much culture matters in Muslim societies, and how deeply culture is entwined for Muslims with matters of faith. This is why we call this exhibition: 'Spirit and Life'. At a time when the forces of exclusion, alienation, and separation can often seem so threatening in our world, I am convinced that our ability to honor authentic symbols of pride and identity - and to share their beauty and their power with one another - can be a tremendous force for good. I hope you will feel the same way - let me thank you, most sincerely, once again, for sharing with us in this important moment."

🏡 Quote for Families

"Without cultural identity, social cohesion gradually dissolves and human groups lose their necessary point of reference to relate with each other, and with other groups."
