Lamoille North District Update
Lamoille North Supervisory Union l March 16, 2026
Dear Lamoille North families, staff, and community members,
The Lamoille North school community is celebrating a historic moment as the Lamoille Union High School boys basketball team captured the 2026 Vermont Division II State Championship. In an intense title game, the Lancers triumphed over top-seeded Hartford 56–53 at Barre Auditorium, bringing home the school’s first-ever state boys basketball title.
The Lancers entered the championship as the No. 2 seed, facing Hartford, the top seed and an undefeated team. Hartford had just delivered a dominant semifinal and was chasing its first state title in nearly a century.
The Lancers rose to meet the challenge, delivering a historic performance that defined their season and secured the title.
In front of an energized crowd at Barre Auditorium, Lamoille Union delivered a determined and resilient performance, holding off Hartford in a tightly contested game to secure the 56–53 victory and bring home the Division II championship trophy. The state title win is the first for the Lamoille Union High School boys team.

The championship capped off strong playoff wins: beating Middlebury in the quarterfinals, then edging Fair Haven 45–42 in the semifinals. Each round showed the team's resilience, teamwork, and focus.
Across Lamoille North, students, families, staff, and community supporters are celebrating this remarkable accomplishment. The dedication of these student-athletes reflects countless hours of practice and perseverance, as well as commitment to representing our school and community with pride.
This championship is about more than a final score. It reflects the strong culture of support that surrounds our students — from coaches and families to teachers, classmates, and community members who cheer them on every step of the way. The pride felt throughout our schools and towns is immense, and the entire Lamoille North community is celebrating alongside this outstanding group of student-athletes.
We sincerely thank Head Coach Hosea Crittenden and assistant coaches Evan Slayton and Rick Sansom for their leadership throughout the season. Their mentorship and focus on teamwork have shaped the team both on and off the court.
Congratulations to the players, coaches, and supporters who made this season possible. Their hard work and sportsmanship show the best of Lamoille Union High School and Lamoille North Supervisory Union.
To our Lancer boys basketball team: your community is incredibly proud of you. Your achievement will be remembered and celebrated across our district, and you have inspired younger students throughout our schools who now see what is possible through teamwork, dedication, and belief in one another.
Congratulations, Lancers — State Champions!
