Howdy, Bronco Family! First progress reports of the quarter for 1st-5th grades have been mailed out. But, remember, you don’t have to wait for a progress report or report card to see how your student is doing in class. Meadow ISD offers a Parent Portal that will allow you to check your child’s grades whenever you want. This option is for 1st grade and up only. If you are not already signed up for Parent Portal, contact Sandy in the Office, and she can help you get set up.

It’s always wonderful to see the students working hard every day. MISD is blessed with amazing teachers who love what they do and love each and every student that comes through our doors.

Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.

Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.

It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

Mrs. B

¡Hola, familia Bronco!

These are a few things that we have worked on for the first week of September.

-In Phonics we are working on the letter Hh. Students are currently working on telling a complete sentence, initial sounds, and sounds Students are also working on identifying a letter/ word and a sentence.

-Our focus in math continues to be on counting and writing numbers 0, 1,2,3,4, and 5. On Thursday we will take our first test over unit one. Students have also practice bubbling in answers for TEKS review questions. We are still learning that we can only bubble in one answer for each question.

-Three new sight words have also been introduced. Please practice those new words.

-Check Class Dojo for messages and send me or the office a message if your child is sick.

-Please send a refillable water bottle with your child.

Thanks for all your support.

Life is good in second grade! We have been working hard and getting things done! Our new motto has become "Don't be good, BE GREAT!" That describes this group perfectly, always striving for excellence and their competitive spirit is infectious! Last week we had some Friday fun and made ice cream floats for some hands on learning within our Matter unit in science. It was so fun watching these kiddos use vocabulary when identifying and discussing within this lab. We have started AR testing and of course our goal is to have the most points in the school, but we need your help! Please encourage your child to read at home, I know schedules get busy and these kiddos are so active, but 10-15 minutes a night goes a long way! The only way to get better at something is to practice!

Just some reminders...

-Sight Word Test Friday

-Math Fact Test Friday

-Spelling Test next Tuesday

Thank you for all you do!

-Mrs.Alaniz

3rd Grade ELAR

Reading/Writing

We are currently working on both reading and writing skills using our online program Lonestar Learning. Student handouts and question responses are recorded in their notebooks, so you won't see many papers coming home at the moment. If you want to see what they are doing in their notebook, please stop by my room and I will be happy to show you. Students are working hard learning how to restate and answer open ended questions, a skill needed for STARR this year.

Spelling/Word Study

Spelling is a struggle for a number of students at the moment as they do not appear to be studying at home. So far, we have only had 5 words each week, but starting next week there will be 10 words each week. Please help your child be successful by studying with them at home. Students must know word meanings and correct usage as well as memorizing how to spell a word.

Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Fiona McCormick

4th Grade Homeroom and Social Studies

In Social Studies, the 4th graders are continuing to study the geography of Texas. This week we are focusing on the Natural Regions of Texas. Next week we will have our first Social Studies test. The students will be bringing their interactive notebooks home to help them review. I encourage you to take a minute and look at the work they have done. It would also be good if you could drill them on their vocabulary, descriptions of the Natural Region of Texas, and map skills. Some students had lower grades this week because they were not completing their assignments. Everyone should be caught up by tomorrow, and those grades will be raised to reflect their completion of the work or corrections.

4th Grade ELAR

This week the 4th graders had their first spelling test. They did a fantastic job! Thank you so much for working with them at home. It really made a difference. We have also been finishing up our work with revising and editing on the computer to publish our writing. Believe it or not, the kids have had a lot of fun correcting each other's work and learning some basic word processing skills. These students are so eager to learn! Tomorrow they will be bringing home library books and AR logs. Each student will be required to read every day at home. Based on the books they choose; I will set a specific daily goal for them to achieve.

5th Grade ELAR

This week the 5th graders also had their first spelling test. Tomorrow they will be bringing home library books and AR logs. Each student will be required to read at home every day. Based on the books they choose; I will set a specific daily goal for them to achieve. Please encourage them to read and earn as many AR points as possible.

4th & 5th Grade MATH

-In 4th grade, we started working on decimals. We are learning what decimals are, how to say them, how to write them in fraction form, how to find them on a number line and how to compare them. They seem to really enjoy and go with the math flow.

-In 5th grade, we just finished multiplying a 3-digit by a 2-digit number. I thought we were going to struggle but I guess there was not much to it after multiplying a 2-digit by a 2-digit number in 4th grade. We have started long division. We will be dividing with a 2-digit divisor. We will stay on this math concept for little while.

-Please have your child practice multiplication math facts for a few minutes every night.

Thank you for your support,

Stacy Gamez

Stacy Gamez.
