SchwenksvilleFamily NewsletterJune 5, 2024

Dear SW Families, Dear SW Families,

With summer just around the corner, we are filled with excitement and anticipation of all that summer break has to offer. As we wrap up this remarkable school year, let's take a moment to reflect on our students' achievements and the incredible journey we've shared. Here's to a fantastic final few days and a joyful, restful summer ahead!

Tomorrow our former Schwenksville students will walk the halls for the last time as a PV student during our Senior Walk! It is always an exciting day as our students and staff cheer on the seniors as they walk through the hallways in their caps and gowns! We'd love it if our students would consider wearing orange, PV, or Schwenksville spirit wear.

Take care and be well,

Mrs. Venza

Principal, Schwenksville Elementary

On Wednesday, June 5, 2024 Perkiomen Valley Middle School West is sponsoring a Fifth Grade Parent Night in the auditorium from 6:00-7:00 pm. The slide presentation shared during the parent night will be posted online after the event for anyone unable to attend in person.

The purpose of this forum is to provide fifth grade parents/guardians the opportunity to learn about the sixth grade program at the middle schools. Our school counselors and administrators will be on hand to welcome you to the Perkiomen Valley Middle School West community and begin/continue your orientation as a parent of a middle-level learner.

Please contact the main office at Middle School West with questions.

Summer Reading Summer Reading

zoom_out_map

Perkiomen Valley School District believes it is critical for students to foster positive reading habits in order to develop as lifelong learners. The district’s summer reading program encourages students to read high-interest, self-selected texts. After all, summer reading is a great opportunity for students to explore personal interests, various genres, and topics they want to know more about while discovering their own “just right” books. As an added bonus, reading high-interest materials prepares students for the demands of college and career-reading. Research strongly suggests that reading skills improve with practice and weaken when not exercised. So why have a summer reading program?

The program exists to inspire a lifelong love of reading and to maintain and sharpen one’s reading and thinking skills.

Please follow this link and click on "Elementary" (on the right) for specific information regarding the PVSD summer reading program.

To tie in with the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, our theme this year will be “Go for the Gold… Read!”

Cell Phones and Smart Watches Cell Phones and Smart Watches

From the Elementary Handbook:

During the school day, cell phones must be off and away, stored in a student’s cubby or book bag, unless they are necessary for medical reasons. When a smartwatch is deemed to be a distraction to the learning environment, it must be removed and stored in the cubby or book bag. The goal of these rules is to avoid distractions and maximize learning.

All devices should remain in students' backpacks while on the bus.
