Attendance Update
Did you know that, if your child has only 90% attendance every year from Reception to Year 6, they miss approximately 34 school weeks of learning (which is nearly a whole school year)?
This drops to 13 weeks if your child has 95% - this is still one full school term.
As you know, regular attendance is one of the most important ways families can support their child’s learning. Being in school every day helps children build good routines, keep up with their work, and feel confident and connected with their friends and teachers. Even a few days of absence can make it harder for children to stay on track, so we really appreciate your efforts in helping your child arrive on time and ready to learn each day.
Pupils with attendance between 96% and 100% are almost twice as likely to achieve at least a grade 5 in their GCSEs than pupils with attendance between 90% and 95%.
Well done to the 419 children who had 100% attendance this week.
This week's school attendance is: 96.8%
This year's attendance to date is 95.3%.
Early Years & KS1 class of the week is 1B with 99% attendance.
KS2 class of the week is 3B with 99.7% attendance.
A reminder that, as a school, we are aiming for no less than 96% attendance.
Every week we continue with our attendance raffle. We award two £5 Amazon vouchers to children who have had 100% attendance from the previous week. Also, this week four children from each key stage had a chance to win £10 for their fantastic attendance or improved attendance during the first spring half-term. Below are some of the lucky winners.

World Book Day
We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day yesterday It was fantastic to see the children’s (and staff's) enthusiasm as they shared stories, explored authors, and showcased their brilliant costumes. A huge thank you to our families for supporting the day with such creativity and positivity.
Sleep!
We all know how important sleep is yet we know more and more young people are struggling with getting the amount of sleep they need. At any given time up to 40% of adults and 50% of children (this rises to 80% of children with an SEND diagnosis) have difficulties with their sleep.
Did you know that The Sleep Charity runs a confidential helpline that is available for parents, carers, teens and professionals. Open 9-11am Monday to Thursday and 7-9pm Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, it is run by trained specialist sleep advisors who can offer support and advice.
They offer a free helpline resource pack here or call 03303 530 541.
Easter holiday events
I know it doesn't seem long since February half term, but the Easter holidays are not too far away. Below you will find some links to events which you might be interested in.
The first is a link to the show Rapunzel showing at Bradford Arts Centre. The second link will give you information about a free drop in craft club.
Sporting update
The sporting calendar has been quite busy this week! At the weekend, the annual swimming gala took place where the pupils performed fantastically. We then had the West Yorkshire Cross Country championships held at Temple Newsam. Unusually for Cross Country events, the sun even shone!
Well done to all who were involved!
