Caragher's Corner
Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians,
It has been another great week of Respect, Responsibility, and Safety here at GBS! On Monday of this week, students began their 3rd quarter specials classes and the 2nd half of the school year.
A quick plug for the CVHS Information Night for our 8th grade GBS parents. They will review a lot of important information about requirements and expectations related to your student's high school experience. The event will be held in the Lucy Hurlin Theater at 6 PM.
As always, thanks for partnering with us as we work with your students! Don't forget to come to skate night next Friday (2/2), families are welcome to join their students.
Sincerely,
Adam Caragher, Principal ~ GBS

Field Trip to ATC at ConVal
On Friday, February 16th, the 8th grade class will take a field trip to ConVal High School for a tour of the Applied Technology Center (ATC). The center introduces students to pathways that lead to high-paying, in-demand careers in areas such as Automotive Technology, Education, Business, Construction, Firefighting, Digital Photography, Manufacturing, and more. Students will also participate in a Career Fair, where they can talk to representatives from fields such as Natural Resources/Agriculture, Health and Human Services, Industrial and Engineering Technology, Business Management, and Arts and Communication. We will leave GBS at 8:15 am and return by 10:45 am. They will travel by bus, and there is no cost for this trip. Permission slips and health forms were handed out to students. Please complete and return them to Laura Gourlay by Friday February 9th. Thank you!
Around the Bobcat World
Today 7th grade students made ice cream in science class. We've been learning about endothermic and exothermic reactions. Ask your 7th grader what they think ice cream making is, is it an endothermic or exothermic reaction? I'm pretty sure many think it's an endothermic, but is it?
Today was the pancake party for the door decorating winners from the contest before the holiday break. Hard work and efforts were rewarded!
A group of GBS students who excelled in their Games and Gaming special had the opportunity to go to Boda Borg this week. They participated in multiple different engaging activities that required problem solving, communication, and cooperations to complete quests. A number of 8th grade students noted, "It was good." Which I know everyone can appreciate as it must have been amazing!
Consolidation/Reconfiguration
As many of you are aware, the School Board has contracted an organization related to the potential consolidation and reconfiguration of the ConVal School District. Here is the link to the School Board homepage that has more information to share.
