No School October 30-31

There is no school October 30-31 for teacher work days and Kindergarten - 5th grade family check-ins. K-5 families, please look for an email from your student's teacher to schedule your check-in.

Helping PPCS Families in Need

The state of Idaho is scheduled to pause Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP payments next month due to the federal government shutdown. If you would like to assist a PPCS family experiencing financial hardship, consider donating a grocery store gift card. WinCo sells Family Friendly gift cards which can't be used for the purchase of tobacco or alcohol. Gift cards can be dropped off at the office to be given to families anonymously. Thank you for being CREW!

Reminders

Attendance/Dismissal

Please remember that all communication regarding student attendance and dismissal plan changes need to come to the front office. We ask that parents please email office@palouseprairieschool.org or call the office at (208) 882-3684 and we will relay information to teachers. In addition to the front office, if you would like to include your child's teacher when emailing, you are welcome to do so. Please refrain from texting teachers about attendance and dismissal issues. For a quick and easy way to report absences and late arrivals you can use Safe Arrival in the School Messenger App. To opt in to School Messenger, text "Y" or "YES" to 67587, or scan the QR code.

Snacks

Please send your child to school with a snack daily. We can provide snacks to students with a genuine need, but our supplies are limited.

Lunch

PPCS gets lunch from Moscow School District. Students make a lunch choice every morning when attendance is taken. Orders are called in from the office to MSD daily at 9AM. If your student will be late and will need a school lunch, please contact the front office by email or phone, (208) 882-3684, before 9AM so we can include it with our daily order.

If your student will be off campus for fieldwork or celebration of learning, their classroom teacher will email families asking for sack lunch orders. If your student needs a lunch for an Adventure Friday trip, you can sign them up through the link in the Adventure information document sent out by Adventure co-lead David Herbold.

Free and Reduced Lunch Applications

You can fill out our free and reduced lunch applications at any point in the year. If your income has changed, or if you aren't sure if you qualify, please fill out the Free and Reduced Lunch Application on our website. You can also contact the office for an application.

The Latah County Library District Celebrates Idaho Family Reading Week 2025, November 3-9

The Latah County Library District will bring Idaho Family Reading Week to the Latah County community this November, joining public and school libraries across the Gem State in a celebration of literacy and connection. Idaho Family Reading Week is November 3-9, 2025. Families are encouraged to read together and visit their local libraries to explore resources. This year’s theme, “Stories Under the Stars,” invites families to cozy up with twinkling tales, bedtime adventures, stargazing stories, and nocturnal animals – all in the spirit of reading after dark.

“Idaho Family Reading Week reminds parents, grandparents, and all caregivers about the importance of reading with the children in their lives,” said Library Director April Hernandez. “It is also a wonderful opportunity to discover everything your library has to offer. We would love to help your family sign up for library cards, find books that fit your interests, and connect with early literacy resources.”

Idaho Family Reading Week is sponsored by the Idaho Commission for Libraries’ Read to Me program and supported by libraries across Idaho. For more information about Idaho Family Reading Week, visit https://libraries.idaho.gov/outreach/idaho-family-reading-week-2025/.

The Latah County Library District (LCLD) provides a diverse county population with access to information, technology, and entertainment. The LCLD is a gathering place for the community and helps our communities learn, work, and thrive. Learn more at www.latahlibrary.org/.
