Grandview Elementary
Parent/ Family Update - August 1, 2025

February 6, 2026
From the Principal:
Dear Grandview families,
It has been such a joy to see our building fully open and running smoothly despite Mother Nature's best attempts to shower us with snow. Now that construction out front is completed and all of Grandview Avenue is accessible again, we are excited to return to our established arrival and dismissal procedures to ensure a safe and efficient experience for everyone.
As a reminder, student safety is our top priority, especially during afternoon dismissal.
Parent Pick-Up Procedures
-
Do not line up on Grandview Avenue at 2:45 PM or earlier. Cars blocking traffic can be cited.
Now that the entire campus is open, lining up early and blocking Grandview Avenue will no longer be allowed. -
Do not block or park in the crosswalk.
Crosswalks must remain completely clear at all times to ensure the safety of our students and families walking home. -
Please remain in your vehicle if you are in the designated car rider lane.
-
Follow staff directions and pull forward as far as possible to keep traffic moving efficiently.
We know dismissal can feel busy, and we truly appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work together to keep our Tigers safe. When everyone follows the procedures, dismissal moves quickly and smoothly for all.
Thank you for partnering with us and for helping us maintain a safe, respectful environment that reflects our TigerPRIDE values. We are grateful for your continued support and look forward to another great week at Grandview!
With gratitude,
Dr. Susan Short
Principal, Grandview Elementary School

January’s Character Trait Focus: Perseverance
This month we are focusing on Perseverance, which we define as: pushing yourself through obstacles and challenges. You can learn more about this month’s focus by checking out the latest Character Strong newsletter.
Tip of the Week
Instead of asking your child, “How did you push through a hard challenge today?” This small shift encourages reflection and deeper conversations at home.
Family Resource
The Purposeful People library is a fantastic resource that organizes book lists by character trait. Try checking out some of these titles from your local library, or search for read-aloud versions on YouTube. Reading or listening to these stories together is a wonderful way to spark meaningful conversations about gratitude and other important values.
Hope everyone had a happy holiday and is ready for a new year!
