Good afternoon, Glenwood families!

What a great week at Glenwood! On Tuesday evening, our school community came together for the annual PTG Basket BINGO at Penncrest High School. The energy in the room was outstanding. Students were excited, families were engaged, and the joy from our basket winners was clear. Moments like these highlight what makes Glenwood such a special place.

The momentum continued today. We showed our Phillies pride for Opening Day, celebrated our students during Pride Assemblies, and gave students the chance to redeem their Woody’s Bucks at Woody’s Warehouse. Later this evening, we look forward to cheering on our Reading Olympics teams as they compete at SLMS.

With Spring Break just ahead, it is a good time for rest and time with family. I hope you enjoy the break and create meaningful moments together.

See you on Tuesday, April 7th!

Best,

Josh Rehak, Principal

Update from 5th Grade

Fifth graders are in the midst of finishing up many units of learning before Spring Break! In math, they have just learned how to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compare numbers with decimals. In ELA, they have read about six different ocean ecosystems. They learned about how animals have adapted to live in particular ecosystems from coral reefs to mangrove forests. They have been tasked with choosing an animal from their reading and writing a multi-paragraph essay about how it survives and affects its ecosystem. In social studies, fifth graders learned about some of the events leading up the Revolutionary War. After all that learning, they were delighted to get outside and enjoy the extra recess all Glenwoodians earned by meeting the goal of earning 5,000 Paws.

School Bus Safety

This morning our bus drivers held "School Bus Evacuation Drills". They reviewed safety guidelines with students, discussed 'what do do in case of emergency', and practiced exiting the bus. All our students were READY to learn, RESPONSIBLE by following directions and RESPECTFUL while listening to the drivers.

JUST LIKE THE CHARACTERS

Each week we will highlight anyone who has exemplified qualities similar to our Philly mascots, possessing the following:

GRITTY (Flyers Ice Hockey) Resilient with a ‘never give up’ attitude

FRANKLIN (76er's Basketball): Loyal friend

SWOOP (Eagles Football): Strong and determined

STRONG AND DETERMINED

When Mrs. Nerelli taught about recycling clay in Art class, this 3rd grade student was determined to work with his Dad and create a plaster slab for the art room. Kolton measured and sketched out a plan on how he would accomplish this task. All his hard work is much appreciated, it was extremely kind of Kolton to complete this project, and it will really be put to good use by Mrs. Nerelli and all Glenwood students! What a strong and determined hard worker... THANK YOU KOLTON!

Jack in Mrs. Bradley's Kindergarten class is a "Gritty!"

He works hard every day in class, giving each activity his best effort and never giving up when something is difficult!

He's also cooperative, caring, and kind!

Overdue Library Books?

Hello Glenwood Families!

Have you received any messages from library@rtmsd.org?

These are legit reminders from our library catalog system letting you know which books are checked out on your child's account. If you get one, please look around for any overdue books and send them in. If you believe the book has gone missing (I am aware of several instances of extraterrestrial beings "borrowing" student books), please let me know. Thanks!

Your Friendly Neighborhood Librarian,

Mr. G

5th Grade Pictures Needed!

We are now collecting pictures of our fifth graders to be included in the fifth grade slideshow and baby picture display case at the end of the year. We are asking each parent to upload the following:

  • 1 baby picture of your fifth grader to be included in our baby picture display case. In late spring, we put together a baby picture display case for our 5th graders in the main lobby. The students have fun guessing who's who!

  • Any and all pictures you have of our 5th graders at school activities throughout their years at Glenwood. Please upload pictures in the corresponding grade level folders, K-5th grade. Please ONLY include pictures at school or school-related events. For virtual years, you may include a few pictures of your child "virtually learning". Please note group shots work best as we’d like to get as many kids included as possible. These pictures will be compiled into a slideshow for our 5th graders to watch at the end of the year.

5th Grade Picture Upload

Please have all pictures uploaded by Friday, April 24th.
