Mr. Covert's Musings
Next week, most classes (except for a few CTE courses) will have Semester 1 exams (see schedule in the next news item). It's important that students study hard and prepare for the Semester 1 exams; they count as 10% of the overall grade for Semester 1.
Semester 1 Grades are calculated as:
Marking Period 1 (45%) + Marking Period 2 (45%) + Semester 1 Exam (10%)
**Note: Courses without Semester 1 exams will have Semester 1 grades calculated by Marking Period 1 (50%) + Marking Period 2 (50%).
Once Semester 1 Grades are completed, those grades and 1/2 credits will be updated on your student's transcript and will impact their GPA and QPA.
Students who do not successfully earn the 1/2 Credit for a course in Semester 1, will need to participate in the Extended Day Learning Program to recover that 1/2 credit. Our school team will reach out to students who will need to participate in this program.
If you have any questions about grading, don't hesitate to reach out to your student's teachers or school counselor.
