Principal's Message
Keeping it Real
Dear SJHS Families,
One of the things I love most about SJHS is that learning doesn't stop when the bell rings. This week has been full of additional learning opportunities for students, as well as ways for them, their families, and our staff to connect and create memories together.
For the past two days, we invited families to Parent-Teacher Conferences, giving us valuable time to discuss student progress, goals, and the many ways we can work together to support success. Thank you to all the parents and guardians who took time out of their busy schedules to be part of those conversations. I am also grateful for our PTSO, parents, and Corky's restaurant, who organized and provided dinner for our teachers on Thursday night, and our office staff and Ditty's restaurant, who provided lunch on Friday. We are grateful for our community partners and blessed to have their support.
Our Culinary Arts students had two opportunities to showcase their talents this week; first, through a fall-themed pop-up restaurant in the library, and second, catering the fall Dinner Theater production of Clue. Events like these allow students to apply classroom learning in real-world situations, while sharing their skills with the community.
For those of you who were able to get tickets to the Dinner Theater tonight (Friday, October 16) before they sold out, I will see you there! Congratulations to our cast, crew, director, producer, and all the individuals who are working behind the scenes to make the production a success. If you missed out on the dinner theater experience, no worries! Tickets are still available for the regular Monday evening performance of the play. We invite everyone to come.
As we head into Red Ribbon Week, Legacy Leadership Club is kicking things off a few days early on October 20, with the theme of "Make a Difference. Be a Hero. Stay Drug Free." Students and staff will have the chance to participate in a red-beaded necklace rock-paper-scissors competition, enjoy lunch activities and a BBQ, and take part in a week (October 23-31) focused on making a difference for others by helping them avoid harmful substances.
Weeks like this remind me that school is more than just academics. It is about belonging, participation, creativity, and finding ways for every student to get involved. Whether it is performing on stage, serving guests in a school restaurant, competing in athletics, or connecting with teachers and families, these experiences help build the culture that makes SJHS a place we want to be.
With appreciation,
Mrs. Mo
Thank you, PTSO!

Scholarship Section
To: SJHS 12th Grade Students & Parents,
I am happy to announce a new scholarship platform created for our school that will keep SJHS students/families informed of national and local scholarship opportunities directly related to SJHS students. This new program will help bridge the communication gap and get important scholarship information out to all families.
You should have received an email (students and parents). Please click the link in that email and on the webpage, click connect with Rick Johnson. Follow the directions to create your free account. I will be able to see a student's interest and progress and help them create a specific scholarship list that directly pertains to each student. This platform will also keep track of deadlines.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Mr. Johnson
