Football Friday Night:

We are excited for another Football Friday night this week as we host the Falcons from Franklin Heights High School. We wanted to take a minute to remind all students, family members, and friends of the importance of being supportive of our players, cheerleaders, and band members while you are in the stands at the game.

We also ask that our older students and the parents of our younger students assist us in our safety efforts by keeping students in the stands for as much of the evening as possible.

There will be no entry to the event after the conclusion of halftime. Additionally, there will be no re-entry for those that leave the stadium.

Pause Before You Post Pause Before You Post

In today’s digital world, social media makes it easy for rumors, threats, and/or hoaxes to spread quickly. What may seem like a joke or a way to “warn friends” can create widespread panic, disrupt learning, and place unnecessary stress on families, staff, and law enforcement. Most importantly, when the spread of false or unverified threats are shared publicly, they slow down investigations—diverting precious resources away from not only investigating a post, but other crimes and medical emergencies as well.

Our community is safest when students, parents, and staff share concerns directly with school officials or law enforcement. Before you post, pause and think: will this help keep people safe, or will it spread fear?

For Students

  • Think before you share. Reposting or discussing threats online may seem harmless, but it can actually make the situation worse. Even if you didn’t create the threat, passing it along could result in disciplinary action or criminal charges. Remember, a 24 hour Snapchat or Instagram story is not deleted forever and can be obtained by law enforcement during the course of their investigation.
  • Don’t fuel the panic. A single post can reach hundreds of classmates in seconds, leading to fear, school disruptions, and missed instructional time.
  • Be part of the solution. If you hear or see something concerning, tell a trusted adult, school staff member, or law enforcement. You can also report anonymously through the Safer Ohio School Tip Line: 844-723-3764.

For Parents

  • Talk with your child about digital responsibility. Explain that resharing rumors or threats online is not just unhelpful—it can be dangerous.
  • Model the pause. Just like students, parents should avoid forwarding or posting about unverified threats. Instead, encourage your child to come to you if they see something online that worries them.
  • Don’t fuel the panic. Just as a single post can reach hundreds of classmates in seconds, leading to fear, school disruptions, and missed instructional time, so too can posting partial information on rumors on local community message boards (such as Grove City Connect or Galloway People in the Know). Reminder: SWCS will ALWAYS contact you through your preferred methods of contact you identify in your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account in the middle or a real emergency.
  • Know where to report. Share threats directly with the school or local law enforcement. Using the Safer Ohio School Tip Line (844-723-3764) ensures trained professionals can quickly assess and respond.
  • Reinforce trust. Let your child know they won’t get in trouble for speaking up when they see something concerning. Their voice could prevent harm and keep the community safe.

Remember: Sharing threats—even as a joke—has serious consequences. Protect our schools by reporting, not reposting.
