NES Parent Newsletter 11/03/25
November 3, 2025

Dear NES Families,
Happy Friday!
We'd like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who made our Math Spooktacular event a success! It was wonderful to see so many families engaged in fun math activities, and we hope you're enjoying the resources you took home. We also want to express our sincere gratitude to all the volunteers who helped with both the Book Fair and the Spooktacular this week β your dedication is truly invaluable!
A few important reminders for the coming weeks:
No Weapons on Campus: For the safety of all students and staff, please remember that no weapons of any kind, including fake weapons (i.e., broken toys, Nerf guns, water guns, slingshots, etc.), are allowed on campus at any time. Our students are taught to "See Something, Say Something" so that school staff can respond immediately to any of these items on campus. As families, please also remember that the FortifyFL app is available to you at home to submit an immediate report if your child reports to you that they saw something at school. Information for FortifyFL is listed at the bottom of our newsletter each week.
Fall Picture Retakes: Student fall picture retakes are scheduled for November 3rd. If your student needs a retake due to absence for the first pictures, please let their teacher know as soon as possible.
Read-A-Thon: North Elementary extends a heartfelt THANK YOU to our school community! We're incredibly proud of our readers and grateful for your support, which made our fundraiser a success. Our students had a wonderful time reading. We can't wait to host another Read-A-Thon next year!
Thank you for your continued partnership in making NES a safe and enriching environment for all our students.
With gratitude and positivity,
Mrs. Jessica Lowe, Principal
Mrs. Heather Briney, Assistant Principal

What is FortifyFL?
FortifyFL is a suspicious activity reporting tool that allows you to instantly relay information to appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials.
By accessing FortifyFL, students can provide a description of the threat, share pics and videos and optionally submit their contact information.
Click the button above to access the online reporting link.
Bullying
Systematically and chronically inflicting physical hurt or psychological distress on one or more students or employees. Bullying includes instances of cyberbullying, as defined in Section 1006.147(3)(b), F.S. Bullying may include, but is not limited to, repetitive instances of teasing, social exclusion, threats, intimidation, stalking, physical violence, theft, harassment, public or private humiliation, or destruction of property. If the physical harm or psychological distress is not the result of systematic or chronic behavior, evaluate for Harassment.
SESIR Bullying must include 3 elements: It must be 1) repeated; 2) intentional; and 3) involve a power imbalance.
Examples
- Student uses a cell phone to take a picture of a student using the bathroom at school and shares it electronically.
- Student repeatedly spreads nasty rumors at school about another person.
- Student repeatedly teases another person in a mean way, calling him/her inappropriate names, making fun of his/her appearance, or the way he/she talks, dresses, or acts.
Non-Examples
- Student calls another student an inappropriate name once.
