The Trojan Triumph
January 9, 2026
From the Principal's Desk
Welcome to the second semester of school. I hope everyone had a great holiday season and got some rest. We had a wonderful first semester at Centerburg High School. Students were successful both inside and outside of the classroom. I am really looking forward to the upcoming semester, as I'm positive that we will be just as successful during the second semester.
However, as we head into January and flu season, parents please make sure your students are washing their hands frequently. This flu season is the highest outbreak in twenty-five years. We want everyone to be safe and healthy.

High School Cheerleaders at Citrus Bowl
On December 27th six of our Varsity cheerleaders flew to Orlando, Florida to perform in the halftime show of the Citrus Bowl. During their time in Florida, they had two practices, along with 3 days at Universal Studios. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for 4 of our seniors to go and experience a trip with teammates and a chance to cheer at a college playoff game. They all did an amazing job and made many great memories (including meeting the Grinch).
Academic Support
On Wednesday and Thursday night, there is math help for any high student. Mrs. Foulk provides support on Wednesday and Mr. Altizer on Thursday. Mrs. Mincks provides support for all subjects most Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Students who need Mrs. Mincks' support can confirm a time with her by emailing her at danielle.mincks@centerburgschools.org.

Other scholarships for seniors -- As scholarships come in, the shared document will be updated. Scholarships for 2026 Seniors
- Senior students and parents, here is a link to the Senior Countdown. It contains a month by month detailed description of what senior students need to be doing in order to prepare for graduation and life after graduation.
- Seniors: If you have not already done so, please ask a staff member, coach, manager at work, etc to write a letter of recommendation for you. Scholarship season is around the corner and you will need to have this completed.
Seniors: Some of you have requested your transcript for college applications and such. Please know that if you have taken a CCP class, your FINAL transcript for those classes will need to travel directly from that college to your future college. Each institution is different and will have directions on the website.
All juniors will take the ASVAB on Tuesday, January 13.
In March, all Juniors will be given the ACT exam. This is offered free of charge through the State of Ohio.
Student transcripts -- Students earn credit at the end of each semester and their GPA is re-calculated at that time. All high school students are encouraged to take a look at their transcript to review for accuracy and to gain perspective of the bigger-picture. Remember, the transcript is a 4yr report card and tracks progress of graduation seals and displays test scores. Students can email Mrs. Ballinger or Mrs. Love to request a copy.

December OSA Activities
Christmas Tree Decorating
Ohio Scholars’ Association members met to decorate the Christmas tree located in Centerburg’s gazebo on December 1st. Thank you to Stonehaven Tree Farm for generously donating the tree.
Donation to Starting Point
Ohio Scholars’ Association members, along with students from surrounding schools, had the opportunity to take part in service projects to better our community. Centerburg OSA members chose to creatively arrange items for new mothers and babies. These gifts consisted of useful items such as diapers, swaddling blankets, binkies, baby clothes, and more. The arrangements will be donated to Starting Point Pregnancy and Family Resource Center of Mt. Vernon.
Cell Phone Policy
This is a reminder that students are not permitted to have their cell phones on during the instructional day (8:16am - 2:54pm). The first time a student is caught with their cell phone, it will be taken to the office and returned at the end of the day. The second time a student is caught, the phone will be taken to the office and a parent or guardian will have to pick it up after 2:54pm. After the second offense, the phone will need to be picked up by a parent and Saturday School will be assigned to the student. If you need to contact your student, call the office and we will get a message to your student.
