What's Happening in Our School!
September
A Word From Mr. Quillen
PES Family,
Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! It has been an absolute joy welcoming our students back into the hallways and classrooms. The energy, smiles, and enthusiasm across all grade levels have set the stage for an incredible year of learning and growth.
I want to extend my sincere gratitude to our entire school community for your patience and flexibility during our recent weather-related closures and schedule adjustments. Navigating schedule changes is never easy, but your support and quick adaptability ensured our students remained safe while keeping their learning on track. Thank you for partnering with us through every shift in our routine.
We also have some extraordinary news to celebrate! I am thrilled to recognize our 2026 3rd-grade class for an outstanding achievement on the IREAD-3 assessment. Our students achieved a 98% pass rate! This phenomenal milestone is a testament to the relentless hard work of our students, the dedication of our teaching staff, and the continuous support you provide at home. We could not be prouder of these young readers for setting such a remarkable standard of excellence.
Looking ahead, we are excited to keep this momentum going! Please mark your calendars for our upcoming Family Literacy Night this September. It will be a fantastic evening filled with engaging reading activities, valuable resources to support literacy at home, and an opportunity to connect with our school community. Keep an eye out for official date and time details coming home soon.
Finally, a huge thank you to all the families who provided extra pairs of clean gym shoes for physical education class. Your thoughtfulness helps us protect and preserve our gym floor, keeping our facilities looking great and safe for all of our students to enjoy.
Thank you for your ongoing partnership, dedication, and school spirit. Together, we are going to make this our best school year yet!
Mr. Quillen
