You inspired the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Mother, to visit her cousin Elizabeth and assist her in her need. Grant that we may also serve those in need, and proclaim your greatness with sincere hearts, through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.
Calendar of Events
Littlies Lapathon - Postponed
Due to the weather forecast for tomorrow the Littlies Lapathon has been postponed until Friday 6th June beginning at 2.00pm. Let’s hope the weather forecast is kind for next week.
Pupil Free Day - 3rd June
Please remember that Tuesday 3rd June is a Pupil Free Day. This is the day after the WA Day holiday. I hope our families enjoy the extra long weekend and the children come back to school ready to get stuck into the last few weeks of Term 2!
Life Link Launch
Next Wednesday morning , three of our Year 6 students, Mrs Anderson and I will attend the official launch of LifeLink Day at Newman College. LifeLink is the fundraising and promotional arm which supports and assists the work of social service agencies established by the Archdiocese of Perth. LifeLink agencies reach out to more than 34,000 Western Australians in need each year, delivering more than $54 million in professional programs, care and direct assistance. Each year we as a school raise money and donate to LifeLink as part of our ongoing commitment to assisting those in need.
Queen of Apostles Feast Day
On Friday 6th June we celebrate the feast of Queen of Apostles. The day will start with a whole school Mass at 9am in the church and we encourage our parents and friends to join us. After Mass we invite our families to come and participate in a feast day activity in the classroom with your children. At 10.30am we will ask those present to join in having morning tea (recess) with the children in the undercover and grass area near the library. You are most welcome to bring a picnic to share. We look forward to a great feast day!
School Procedure Review
Mrs Anderson and I have conducted a review of all school procedures. Please check the website or link below for details.
CEWA Child Safe Framework
The CEWA Child Safe Framework is a comprehensive approach to child safety that emphasizes prevention, intervention, and support. It provides a foundation for creating a culture where children and young people feel safe, valued, and respected.
This framework of nine elements combine supporting a child safe culture, healthy and respectful relationships and extended guardianship in school communities, based on the latest research and recognised best practices.
Please view the video below for an introduction to the framework.
Best Wishes

DA VINCI DECATHLON
On Wednesday 14 March, a Team of Year 5 and 6 students participated in the Da Vinci Decathlon hosted by St Hilda’s College. The Da Vinci Decathlon is a competition that requires teams of 8 students to work together on 10 disciplines across the day. The students are required to display higher order thinking skills within a collaborative environment. Working together and agile thinking was crucial to solving the problems in each discipline.
Our students competed against 25 schools in the Year 6 section of the competition. Even though our size disadvantaged us, we were able to fiercely compete against the much larger K-12 colleges, finishing 8th overall and placing 2nd in Code breaking and 3rd in Cartography. Kudos to our students for not being over-awed by the size of the event (and the hats and blazers sported by other schools). Congratulations to Meloshan, Cornelius and Shay in Year 5, and MinHa, Olivia, David, James and Allyenna in Year 6 for this amazing result.

Volunteering
The Government of WA have amended the Working with Children Act last year with the changes implemented to better protect children. Catholic Education WA has mandated this process for all volunteers, including parent volunteers in schools. This includes parents who wish to volunteer at sports carnivals, in classrooms and at P&F events. Could we ask that all parents fill in the Volunteer Declaration (link) even if you have no plans at this stage to volunteer at school. If you filled out the form last year you will need to do it again this year. Parents who wish to assist teachers on excursions will need to be on this list. Your information will be stored securely in accordance with CEWA’s Information Stewardship. We highly value parent volunteers' time and contribution to our school community and thank-you for taking the time to submit the form below.
Any grandparents that wish to volunteer in the classroom or assist in the canteen will need a Working With Children Check. Please note this does not include drop off, pick up or attendance at our Grandparents Mass and Morning Tea. Grandparents that would like to volunteer at school, please contact the school office and we can assist you in the process.
ICAS ONLINE COMPETITIONS
