June Highlights 📸
Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula Future Grads
As Summer kicks-off, Cañada College is excited to host the Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula (BGCP) Future Grads Program on campus. The week of June 8 through June 11, our campus came to life as BGCP high school students took part in workshops and career fair. Future Grads supports students to and through college graduation. Students receive counseling for applications, financial aid forms, and college selection.
Cañada programs such as Promise, RadTech, ECE, TRiO and many more joined the fun! Sharing information and resources with these future grads to explore their options. We will be hosting BGCP Middle School students in the coming weeks. Be sure to say hello!
San Mateo County Pride Celebration 2026
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, Cañada College proudly participated in the San Mateo County Pride Celebration, which happened in San Mateo’s Central Park! The countywide event was a space to champion inclusion and wellness for LGBTQ+ folx in our county. Our Office of Equity came with LGBTQ+ resources and worked with our Outreach ambassadors to do a drum demonstration—linking to the celebration’s theme of “Unite, Empower, Resist.” It was great to see hundreds of attendees and their families walking around, visiting tables that included local nonprofits, religious groups, craft vendors and more. There were also food trucks and performances. We heard from various attendees that they loved “the vibe” and that “the energy was really great, especially at a time when we really need it”.
Belle Haven Community Campus Juneteenth Celebration
On Friday, June 19, 2026 we were welcomed to Belle Haven Community Campus to observe and celebrate Juneteenth through food, music, storytelling, and dance. Juneteenth commemorates African American freedom and emphasizes education and achievement. Cañada enjoyed the opportunity to share space and resources with the community! Thank you to everyone that stopped by!
Boys & Girls Club of Peninsula Middle School Summer Program
On June 24, 2026 we kicked-off the weekly Boys & Girls Club of Peninsula Middle School Summer Program! For the next four weeks we will host middle school students from Redwood City to learn about our various programs such as Digital Art & Animation, Early Childhood Development, and supporting programs such as Middle College.
Our goal is to provide early exposure to college for our local middle schoolers!
