Week 1: Open House and The First Day of School!

Week at a Glance:

Monday, 8/3: Open House, 3 pm - 5 pm; Pre-K Orientation, 10 am for parents only; *no registrations due to Open House
Tuesday, 8/4: registration from 9 am - 3 pm
Wednesday, 8/5:*First Day of School; registration from 10 am - 3 pm
Thursday, 8/6: no events
Friday, 8/7: no events

Open House Checklist:

*For families who completed the PowerSchool forms, here is your checklist:

-Meet your Homeroom Teacher:

PK-K report to 200/Orange Hall
1st-2nd report to 300/Green Hall
3rd, 4th, 5th report to 400/Blue Hall

-Pick up your Car Rider tag:

Pick up your car rider tag from the table in the Cafe.

-Get your Bus Rider information:

Pick up your bus information from the table located in the Cafe.

-After School Program (ASP) pre-pay and registration:

Please see the flyer below with ASP information.

First Day of School:

Arrival

7 am is the drop-off time for car riders
To ensure a smooth and safe beginning for all students, we kindly ask that parents and guardians refrain from walking children into the school on the first day.
Our staff will be available to greet and assist students as they arrive, helping them settle into their new routines confidently.

Dismissal

Dismissal will begin at 2:30 pm.
Car Rider Tags must be displayed on the driver-side windshield or dash. If you are unable to show your Car Rider Tag, you will be asked to come inside and present your driver's license.
Turn right onto Atlanta Highway as you leave campus. This will assist Law Enforcement with traffic flow.

Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! We are excited to welcome our students and families back to Van Wert Elementary and look forward to partnering with you for a successful year of learning, growth, and achievement. Our faculty and staff have been working hard to prepare classrooms and create a safe, welcoming environment where every child can thrive.

As we begin the school year, we invite you to join us for Open House on Monday from 3:00–5:00 p.m. The prerequisite for attending is completing the PowerSchool forms. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet your child's teacher, visit the classroom, and learn more about the exciting year ahead. We also want to remind families that the first day of school is Wednesday. We encourage students to arrive on time, ready to learn, and excited for a great first day. Please consider putting your student on the bus to avoid being late.

Thank you for your continued partnership, support, and trust in Van Wert Elementary. Together, we will make this an outstanding school year for every student. We can't wait to welcome you and your children back to campus!
