Indiana Weather
It was great to see one of our Kindergarten classes this morning and they graphed the weather. They determined that the weather that happened the most this week was cloudy and warm. The sun was out today, but unfortunately, as it is with Indiana spring weather, it will be changing this weekend and we will be having a much cooler start next week. PLEASE check the weather daily to ensure that your student is dressed appropriately, or has layers for the days that start cold and get warmer. They will continue to go out to recess unless it is raining.
ILEARN Testing
Our 3rd - 5th grade students started their ILEARN testing this week. It is not easy for some of them to concentrate and testing causes some added stress. However, it was a GREAT start to our ILEARN testing. They started with the English/Language Arts writing portion of the test and worked so hard! Some of them wanted to put so much into their writing that they were working right until the buses were ready to load! Next week we will continue with ILEARN testing. Please make sure your student gets enough rest the night before and give them some encouragement each morning! It makes such a difference to start their day on a positive note!

ILEARN Testing
3rd - 5th grade students
Students in grades 3 through 5 will soon take the ILEARN Assessment, an important measure of their progress toward grade-level standards. Please review the testing dates carefully and make sure your child is present and on time each day. During this busy time of year, with many distractions outside of school, encourage your child to get plenty of rest and come prepared to do their best on the ILEARN Assessment.
NOTE: Students will not be permitted to enter or leave the classroom once testing has started for that session. Please plan appointments accordingly. Thank you!

IMPORTANT - Changes in Transportation
Contact Front Office at your child's building
If there is a change in your child's transportation, whether they will be picked up or riding a bus, it MUST be communicated with the front office. This can be done by sending a note to school or calling the office. If you call the office, please make sure you speak with a person. There is a central list at each elementary school, which allows us to check when students are unsure and the teacher may not be available. Do not just send a message to the teacher. The office MUST be notified. Thank you!
NOTE: Transportation changes should be in to the office by 2:00 pm.
Background Checks & Photo IDs
We love having you visit our schools! To ensure the safety of all our students, anyone who wishes to volunteer or have lunch with their student must first complete a volunteer background check. You can find the link under the Parent Resources tab on our website.
A friendly reminder: for the safety of our students, please remember to bring your photo ID whenever you visit the school for any reason, including student pickup, lunch, or meetings.

Braves of the Week
Pre-K: Brody Cain
Brody always leads by example in everything he does. He uses his manners without being reminded, always saying "please" and "thank you," even when no one is paying attention. In the cafeteria, he makes thoughtful choices and models respectful behavior for those around him. Brody is truly a joy to have in class, bringing a positive attitude each day and encouraging others to do the same. He is doing a great job! Keep it up, Brody!
Kindergarten: Jenson Samuel
Jenson Samuel is an energetic and happy student. He loves to learn and brings great conversations and thoughts to classroom discussions. His bright smile brings joy to the classroom, and he is a great friend. Keep up the amazing work, Jenson!
1st Grade: Zayden Wright
Zayden is such a great helper in our class. He gladly volunteers to help Mrs. Smith without complaining. He is a great friend and works hard in school. He sets a great example and is an amazing leader! I'm super proud of the young man that he is becoming!
2nd Grade: Rollie Brewer
Rollie has been a model student this week in Room 17. He gives great effort on all of his work. He has passed all of his weekly iReady lessons. Rollie's in-class participation, attitude, and work ethic are always spot on!
3rd Grade: Romeo Rader
Romeo has been striving to do his best and be a good friend. During testing, he has given maximum effort and tried his best! He is using his tools and navigating his feelings and emotions. We are so proud of Romeo!
4th Grade: Gabby Silvers
Gabby is the kind of student everyone enjoys being around. She is always wearing a smile, and she brings positive energy to our classroom. Gabby is always friendly and approachable; she goes out of her way to help classmates at every point of the day. She takes pride in her work and consistently does exactly what is expected of her, demonstrating responsibility and strong character. Her kindness, reliability, and cheerful attitude make her not only a great student but also a great friend.
5th Grade: Alexia Barnes
Alexia was chosen as Brave of the Week because she is a true model of what a Brave should be. She shows up to school with a smile on her face, ready to seize the day! She is a fierce friend and classmate. If there is a task to be done or an errand to run, she is always willing and able. I have thoroughly enjoyed having Alexia in our class this year, and she will be so very much missed next year when she heads off to middle school.
