What's Happening? What's Happening?

Happy Friday —

What a whirlwind week! We ran into a few speed bumps, but our students and staff handled everything with care and professionalism. Here are the highlights:

  1. Monday — MCAS Grade 8 ELA; a medical situation
  2. Tuesday — MCAS Grade 8 ELA
  3. Wednesday — MCAS Grade 7 ELA; a power outage
  4. Thursday — MCAS Grade 7 ELA make-up (due to the outage)
  5. Friday — MCAS Grade 6 ELA

Why mention this? Because our school community stepped up when things got hectic.

MCAS NEWS:

On MCAS days, each grade tests for most of the morning. When a student misses their assigned test day, we must schedule make-ups and reassign staff to proctor those sessions—sometimes for several days—until everyone finishes.

We know illness and family emergencies happen. We truly appreciate the all-hands-on-deck efforts to get students to school and on time, especially during testing. Please note: students who arrive 30 minutes late are often unable to test that day and will need to make up the exam.

Thanks to everyone for your flexibility and teamwork this week. Please take note of the dates below for our additional dates moving forward.

IT'S TIME: Fowler School Musical - "Mamma Mia" kicks off tonight!

Friday, March 27th (7 pm),

Saturday, March 28th (1 pm and 6 pm)

PLEASE CONTINUE TO REINFORCE THESE SCHOOL RULES BELOW

Ebike and Scooter Concerns: As warmer weather arrives, we're noticing a significant increase in safety concerns with students using e-bikes and scooters. While we understand that home expectations for safe use are beyond our control, it's important to inform our community that many students are riding without helmets, navigating through traffic, and carrying passengers who also lack helmets. We share this out of care, as the most difficult conversation is informing a caregiver that their child was injured traveling to or from school. Please take some time to establish clear safety expectations and community courtesy guidelines so we can all work together to keep our students safe.

Absence Notification: If your student will be absent, we need to be notified. Please make sure you call the absence line at 978-897-6753

Beverage Consumption: As a reminder, please do not send your student to school with beverages other than water. Having Dunkin' Donuts cups and similar items is not permitted in the classrooms. Please have students consume their specialty drinks before the morning school bell.

Cell Phone Reminder: Fowler Middle School is a cell phone–free school. Students are expected to keep their phones off and away during the school day so they can stay focused on learning and engaging with their teachers and classmates. Thank you for helping us support a distraction-free learning environment.
