September 30th- Back to School Night

Back to School Night: Our virtual Back-to-School Night for Middle and High School will be on September 30th starting at 6:00pm. The Back to School Night will be linked through Canvas. If you have not done so already, please follow these instructions on setting up a Parent Observer Canvas account with your child(ren). Canvas will be the primary point of contact for your child to access information about each of their classes. By setting up a Parent Observer account, you will be able to see what teachers post if you want to stay informed about their classes. We will send additional information about the Back to School Night as we get closer.

The Irvine Family Resource Center is available to IUSD Families and typically serves students/parents who are having difficulty accessing their mental health support through their insurance provider due to lapse of coverage, a limited amount of sessions, not having mental health coverage within their insurance provider or is having difficulty getting linked to an appropriate provider. Irvine Public Schools Foundation- The mission of the Irvine Public Schools Foundation is to enrich the educational experience of each child in every school. SAY SOMETHING- Last Spring the Irvine Unified School District implemented the Sandy Hook Promise SAY SOMETHING Anonymous Reporting System, also known as SS-ARS for short. This additional safety protocol allows for students, staff, and the community to send anonymous tips about life safety and non-life safety issues happening on or around our school. High School Updates and Information

High School Progress Grades are now available to view in the Aeries Parent Portal. Teachers have reported grades and/or comments for each of their classes. Students who have earned a D or F for this grading period, or who need additional support should attend teacher Office Hours every Monday. The link for Office Hours is located on each teacher’s course page in Canvas. Please follow Monday's schedule of when teachers are holding their Office Hours.

Collegewise Online Webinars- Collegewise has created free online webinars for our students and families. Their Runway series is carefully structured to give students and families the tips, tools, and timelines they need to reach their college goals. PSAT/NMSQT Registration for JUNIORS:

Northwood High School will offer the PSAT/NMSQT on Saturday, 10/17 for any juniors interested in a practice SAT experience. Students with a qualifying score may be eligible for recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. This is an optional test opportunity. Registration will open on 9/28 and close on 10/2 (or until tests sell out). Register on the NHS website HERE. Counselor Recommendation Process for Seniors: Any senior needing a counselor recommendation for college applications must fill out the Counselor Recommendation Packet. Once completed, please email directly to your assigned counselor from the 2019-2020 school year (alpha breakdown and counselor emails can be found in the packet). Please be cognizant of deadlines written in the Counselor Recommendation Packet and make sure to turn your packet in on time.

Letter of Recommendation Process for Seniors - Please fill out this REQUEST FORM for information on how to request a Letter of Recommendation from your Counselor. Once all steps in the counselor recommendation request process have been completed, you can schedule a time to talk with your counselor via phone or zoom conference to discuss your educational plans and recommendation.
