FIRST GRADE SPOTLIGHT: 100TH DAY OF SCHOOL!
Tuesday, January 27, marked the 100th day of school, and our first graders celebrated in a big way! Students brought in collections of 100 items from home, which they sorted, counted, and shared with their classmates. Then, throughout the day, students rotated through ten engaging learning centers across the first-grade classrooms, using a record sheet to track their work at each station.
It was a fantastic day filled with hands-on learning, collaboration, and excitement and students went home with lots of great stories to share! The first-grade team would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the parent volunteers who helped make this special celebration possible.
SEVENTH GRADE SPOTLIGHT: WESTMINSTER WOODS TRIP
Our 7th grade students had a wonderful time on their recent overnight field trip to Westminster Woods in Occidental! We’re excited to share these photos capturing many of the special moments from their experience.
Westminster Woods is an outdoor education camp nestled in the redwoods, designed to help students learn through hands-on, experiential activities. During their time at camp, students participated in team-building challenges, nature hikes, science-based outdoor learning, and reflective activities that encouraged independence, collaboration, and personal growth.
Throughout the trip, students demonstrated responsibility, curiosity, and kindness as they supported one another, tried new activities, and built stronger connections with peers and staff. It was truly rewarding to see them step outside their comfort zones and make lasting memories in such a beautiful setting.
We hope you enjoy these snapshots from a trip our 7th graders will remember for years to come!

PARCEL TAX FEBRUARY MEETING: OPTIONS FOR ADDRESSING BUDGET CHALLENGES IN SCHOOLS
A group of Redwood City parents, staff, and community members is hosting a meeting to explore options for a potential parcel tax measure for the 2026 school year. The discussion will focus on addressing the District’s projected $5.5 million budget deficit and the potential impacts on programs, staffing, and services at local schools.
Meeting Details:
Date: Tuesday February 24, 2026
Time: 6:30-8pm
In-person Location: Fireside Books & More (2421 Broadway, Redwood City, CA 94063)

This is an opportunity for parents, teachers, and staff to learn more, ask questions, and share ideas about ways the community might respond to funding challenges. The meeting is open to anyone interested in understanding how a parcel tax could address the budget deficit in Redwood City schools.

FAMILY CENTER UPDATE
FEBRUARY ATTENDANCE RAFFLE
To encourage strong school attendance—especially during times when absences often increase near holidays or school breaks—we will be hosting additional attendance raffles before and after the Mid-Winter Break in February. Being at school every day and arriving on time is essential for student learning, building routines, and staying connected to classmates and instruction.
Each school day during this period, two students who are present and on time will be entered into a raffle to win a $10 Yumi Yogurt gift card. We hope this adds a little extra fun while reinforcing the importance of consistent attendance. Thank you for your continued support in helping your child make the most of every learning day!
