Franklin Ground Breaking Ceremony
Please join the Oshkosh Area School District as we officially break ground on our Franklin expansion on Friday, May 8. This project was made possible through our community's support of the April 2025 Facilities Referendum, and we can't wait to celebrate this milestone with you.
Date: Friday, May 8, 2026
Time: 2:30 PM Groundbreaking Ceremony | 3 - 6 PM Community Open House
Location: Franklin Elementary School (1401 W 5th Avenue Oshkosh, WI 54902)
Individuals attending the groundbreaking can park in our parking lot or nearby streets.
The event will be outside in the front of our building. In the event of bad weather, the Groundbreaking Ceremony will be moved indoors.
Flyer: OASD Franklin Elementary School Expansion Groundbreaking Invite - 05.08.26
Note: May 8 is a No School Day for students.
Event Highlights
Groundbreaking Ceremony (2:30 PM): Enjoy a short program featuring school and district leaders. Most importantly, several of our students will be taking the first ceremonial shovel turn!
Community Open House (3 - 6 PM): Immediately following the ceremony, we are opening our doors to the public. We invite all current families, alumni, and neighbors to tour our current Franklin building and share memories before renovations begin.
We are so grateful for your support and look forward to seeing the Franklin community come together for this special occasion!
Walking Field Trip Forms & Field Day
Please be sure you have completed the 'Walking Field Trip' permission slip on Infinite Campus. As our back field area/playground is not accessible due to construction, our annual 'Field Day' will be held at Tipler Middle school on Friday, May 29th. Students must have a completed Walking Field Trip permission slip completed in order to walk to the middle school and participate.
Please note this form has been available since the beginning of the school year, so many families have already completed it. This is not a new form.
If you need a refresher on how to fill out an Infinite Campus field trip permission slip, instructions can be found here.
We are also looking for volunteers for Field Day to help run stations. If you're interested, please sign up here.
🎒 2026-27 School Year Registration
It’s time to look ahead to another wonderful year of learning and growth! Online Registration (OLR) / Annual Student Update for the 2026-2027 school year opens April 1 for all returning Oshkosh Area School District K-12 students and new 4K students.
To secure your child’s spot and ensure they are ready for the fall, please log in to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal beginning April 1 to register and verify your information.
What You Need to Know:
Streamlined Forms: We’ve made it easier! Universal field trip permissions, athletic forms, dental care, and digital GO Transit access are now built directly into the online process.
Busing & Transportation: If your child is eligible and requires busing, you must complete the transportation questions within OLR by August 16 to guarantee service for the first day of school.
New 4K Students: Enrollment for our free 4K program also opens April 1! Current families can simply add a new 4K student while completing their annual update in the Parent Portal.
In-Person Support: If you need language assistance or computer access, join us for Centralized Registration Day on August 5 at Vel Phillips Middle School.
How to Register: Log in via the Infinite Campus website or the "Campus Parent" mobile app (available on the App Store and Google Play). Click “More” on the bottom left, then select “Online Registration.”
Read our 2026-2027 Online Registration Guide for the full update and instructions!
Help Shape the Future of Early Learning in Oshkosh
Are you a parent or guardian of a young child? Help shape the future of early learning and four-year-old kindergarten (4K) programming in Oshkosh! A series of community conversations are being held to hear your feedback on how to best meet the needs of our youngest learners and families.

These sessions are open to family members, friends, and champions of children who are enrolled in, have completed, or will soon be enrolled in early learning programs (preschool or 4K). School Choice / Out of Attendance Area Request
If you would like your child to attend a school within the OASD that is not their assigned school (based on your home address), please click here to learn about the School Choice/ Out of Attendance Area Request process. As the application process has changed this year, step-by-step directions are included. The window to apply is April 1, 2026 through August 1, 2026 and final decisions are made mid-August.
Families with a current approved School Choice/OOAA do NOT need to reapply unless:
- their child is moving to a new school level (e.g., elementary to middle school)
- the family has moved to a new address
Please note that approval of a School Choice/OOAA request is only guaranteed for one year, and continuation of the approval is reviewed each year and may be denied based on the upcoming year's actual enrollment.

Reminders
New Pick Up/Drop Off Procedures Reminders
Please be sure to read the communication that has been sent out via email about our new pick up and drop off procedures. The reason for these changes is that our whole blacktop/playground area in the back will soon be fenced off as construction begins. Please note that there will still be a 9th Ave OPD crossing guard present, even though school access is blocked from that road. If you need a refresher- here is a detailed look at our new procedures.
Is it spring or summer?
Please make sure your kiddo is dressed for the weather- whatever it may be for that day!
As the days warm up, if it is less than 50 degrees, students need a coat. If it is 50-59 degrees. students need long sleeves. If it's 60+ degrees, short sleeves are fine.
Franklin Elementary Kindness Wall
Volunteers and Chaperones
Parking
Remember, the front circle is available starting at 7:35 am (after busses leave) for those wishing to stay inside their vehicle for a quick drop off.
Attendance
If your child will be out of school, be sure to let us know! You can call the office (920-424-0078) and leave a message, email your child's teacher, or submit the absence through the parent portal. If you bring in a doctor's note we will add it to your child's file.
Please note that after 8 absences, you will receive an automated attendance concern letter, even if the absences are excused. This is for informational purposes only. All further attendance actions are reviewed on a case-by-case scenario as a team.
Office Drop Offs
If you bring in a forgotten item to your child (lunch, coat, water bottle, snack, etc.) please label it with your child's name and teacher. Many items get dropped off during the course of the day and this helps to ensure all items make it to where they need to go.
Birthday Treats
Students are not allowed to bring birthday treats, per the district snack policy. Students will celebrate their birthday with their classmates and teacher by singing, playing a short game, and/or discussing birthday highlights.
If your child is going to be having a party at your home, we ask that you do not have them give out invitations at the school unless the entire class is being invited.
