Mustang Memo
November 3, 2026
Principal's Message
Dear Families,
As we turned our clocks back this weekend with the end of Daylight Saving Time, we welcome November with a season of gratitude and remembrance. Today, we are especially grateful for our students, families and MOQ School!
Next Monday, we look forward to honoring our nation's heroes at our Veterans Day Assembly. Following that, we will host a food drive from November 9-13 to support Operation Others, offering us a chance to serve those in need. Fifth grade students have organized a fundraiser for the water crisis in South Sudan. We are truly blessed with these opportunities to live out our call to serve others!
This week we look forward to welcoming our TK and Kindergarten students to Mass. Our church will be full! What a blessing.
In gratitude,
Maureen Hoy

Whether they are new to MOQ or already part of our school family, we look forward to welcoming them!
Operation Others
MOQ students will participate in the Operation Others Food Drive service project that runs from November 9-13. Operation Others is an organization of area Catholic high school students working with our community to provide meals for over 1,200 families during the Christmas season. Donations are assigned to grade levels as follows:
Preschool-Gr. 2: canned fruits/vegetables
Grades 3-5: canned soup and pasta
Grades 6-8: peanut butter and jelly (no glass jars allowed)
Thank you to the House of Frassati and our Jr. High students for helping to organize this important service project.
Dress Down Donation Day for South Sudan
After reading A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park, our fifth graders have been learning about the challenges faced by people in communities where clean, safe water is difficult to access. To help students better understand this reality, they participated in an empathy walk, literally walking a mile in the shoes of a character from the book while carrying two gallons of water. This experience gave students a small glimpse into the daily journey many children and families make simply to meet their basic need for water. Moved by what they learned, our students wanted to do something to make a difference. They took the initiative to organize a Dress Down Donation Day on Friday, November 13, with all donations going toward Water for South Sudan, the organization founded by Salva Dut, the real-life inspiration behind the protagonist in our novel. Through this project, students are putting their learning into action and living out our mission of Christian service by recognizing the needs of others and responding with compassion, generosity, and a willingness to serve. We invite our school community to join us in supporting this important cause! To learn more about Water for South Sudan and the life-changing work they do to bring clean water to communities, please visit Water for South Sudan.
"When I did the empathy walk, I actually thought about how grateful we all should be for having clean water." - Baylee F.
"Many people in Africa are drinking dirty water. One way clean water helps is girls can get more rest and get some education." - Lucia B.
"Some people do not have clean water, so we are going to help them. Imagine no clean water. Horrible, right? But, some people live like that. They get yellow skin fever and some die. Some even walk a day's worth of miles to find it." - Ella K.
"In Africa, water will change people's lives because they will get a better education and they will not get sick as much." Thomas P.
"Think of all the things you do that involve water. Now, try to imagine doing that with dirty water." - Ellie V.
"There are kids that do not have water! We need to help them. By doing this we can potentially save lives." - Willa H.
"We should donate because everyone should have clean water." - Westin S.

Your generosity makes a difference at Mary Our Queen—and right now, first-time donors have an opportunity to make twice the impact!
Thanks to the generosity of a special donor, all first-time gifts to our Faith & Knowledge Annual Appeal will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $25,000. Our goal is to unlock the full match by December 1, generating $50,000 to support our students, teachers, and school.

To our families and parishioners who have already supported this year's appeal—THANK YOU!
Your generosity is the foundation of so much that we accomplish together.
In the coming days, families will receive a letter with more information about the appeal and our matching gift opportunity. A school representative will also be reaching out personally to share more and answer questions.
But there's no need to wait for the letter! You can make your gift TODAY. Every first-time donation, regardless of size, brings us closer to unlocking the full $25,000 match.
