A Message from Principal Woofter
Happy October!
What a beautiful transition we have had from September to October! Along with the gorgeous trees changing colors, we are having lovely weather for being outside and enjoying all that fall has to offer! This is going to make for perfect weather for our Fun Run tomorrow!
Information regarding the times our students will be outside are included in the newsletter below. Students will receive their Fun Run t-shirts when they arrive at school on Friday. With the predicted sunshine, students may want to also bring a hat or sunglasses for their designated running time. We are excited to have parents joining us to cheer on their students! There will be an area for parents to make signs and a roped off space for parents as spectators. Aside from those volunteering in specific areas, all other family members are asked to remain in the spectator areas as we will have recess going while some classes are having their time on the track. A huge thank you to our PE teachers, PAC, and volunteers for all their hard work in the planning and preparation for this beloved annual tradition!
A reminder that next Friday, October 9, there is no school for students. This is the designated in-service day across the state of Oregon. It will give students an extra day to rest up for all the exciting things coming up throughout October! This is also a good time to fill out your Volunteer Background check with classes starting to schedule field trips and parties. The information on how to complete your background check is further down in the newsletter.
Thank you for your continued support!
Kindly,
Sarah

Annual Notice for Statewide Tests
Oregon is committed to preparing every learner with academic knowledge and skills necessary for success beyond high school. Oregon’s statewide assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics are fully aligned to Oregon’s State Standards and provide students in grades 3-8 and 11, along with their families, one measure of academic achievement and growth.
Oregon law (ORS 329.479) permits parents and adult students to annually opt-out of Oregon’s statewide assessments in English Language Arts (ELA) and/or Mathematics by submitting an annual form. The opt out form will be provided at least 30 days prior to the start of testing. Testing will be in the spring. Specific testing windows will be shared at a later date.

Nutrition Services Partners with Local Farms
Nutrition Services is partnering with Hood River Organics and Our Table Cooperative to provide students with fresh, organic produce during Oregon’s harvest season! Our salad bars feature locally-sourced apples, pears, blueberries, strawberries, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, Italian prune plums, and more! Our Farm-to-School partnerships and grant funding allow us to continue offering students healthy, delicious options while supporting local small businesses. We are proud to bring these fresh flavors straight from Oregon farms to your child’s plate!
