Week of October 2, 2022
Dear Johnson ECC Families,
Happy October!
The first month of school went by so quickly. It's exciting to see that the students have transitioned in to school so nicely. They have quickly become acclimated with the schedules and routines of the classroom and the school day.
The curriculum theme for the month is Friendship. Students will listen to stories such as: Let's Be Friends, What makes a Friend, What Makes Each of Us Special. and How Do Friends Help One Another, just to name a few.
Johnson ECC School Council:
Looking for families to be on the JECC School Council (different from Parent Council). The purpose of the School Council is to adopt goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies, identify educational needs of students, review the annual budget and formulate a school improvement plan. We will also discuss the upcoming move of the JECC to the space of the former Abigail Adams Middle School building scheduled for school year 2023. If you are interested in participating please send me an email or call the school office.(maura.perez@weymouthschools.org or 781-335-0191)
The first meeting will take place on Monday, October 24 at 1:00 p.m.
Health and Safety:
If your child is out for more than 3 consecutive days, you must have a doctor's note in order for your child to return to school.
Healthy Smiles:
Consent forms will go home this week as we are excited to be able, again, to offer MA Kidz Healthy Smiles, to all students at Johnson ECC. The mission is to provide FREE preventive dental services to those that do not regularly see a dentist.
MA Healthy Smiles is a team of licensed Dental Hygienists that will be working closely with our staff to help students with their dental needs. Students that return completed forms with signed parental consent can receive a dental screening, cleaning and dental care education.
TECHNOLOGY:
If you did not pick up your child's Ipad please make arrangements with the office to pick up.
We are excited about the first Johnson ECC Technology workshop that will take place on Wednesday evening, October 5th via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. See the attached flyer below. We hope families will come to hear about the new Seesaw initiative. Students will bring their Ipads to school each month the last full week of the month beginning the week of October 24th.

Wanted: Family Pictures!
Looking for family pictures to put on our Family Bulletin Board. Our families are so important to us and our students love to proudly show us their family members. Please consider sending in a picture of your family for our Family bulletin board. Do not send in a picture that you need back right away. We will do our best to send all pictures home in June 2023.
Parent Ipad and Training Night
Please join us for Parent iPad Training and Tutorial Night. This is a wonderful opportunity for parents and guardians to learn about:
Interacting and engaging with the iPad application Seesaw
