Dear Monomoy Middle School Families,
Thank you to all families and caregivers for helping get your students to school for MCAS testing last week! With nearly all of our students present, testing ran incredibly smoothly, even as we navigated a brand-new testing platform for both students and staff. I was truly impressed by the focus and effort our students brought to the assessments, and I look forward to celebrating their growth when results come in this summer. Please mark your calendars for the upcoming Math MCAS (Grades 5, 6, and 7) on May 20–21 and Science MCAS (Grade 5 only) on May 6–7. We’ve got this! On a personal note, I sadly need to be absent at the beginning of this week and will be checking email sporadically. If you need immediate assistance, please reach out to the front office.
In partnership,
Abby Dudley
Proud Principal
ANNOUNCEMENTS
Community Input on Grading Practices: We are working as a staff to improve our grading practices building wide. This is an important component to our school improvement plan that includes increased transparency and communication with families and caregivers. We would love hear your thoughts! Please click on the link to provide valuable input. We will have this survey open through the end of May.
SELIS Survey Monday: Per my email last week, students will complete their Spring SELIS survey on Monday. Please be sure to complete the opt out form by tonight if you do not want your student to participate.
High School Scheduling Intro for 7th Grade: The 8th grade high school team will be coming to meet with our 7th graders tomorrow during Anchor Block to begin to talk about the scheduling process for high school. Exciting for them...sad for me. I will miss this crew a lot.
Pick Up and Drop Off Safety: Please be sure to follow all the rules of pick up and drop off while buses are actively present with their stop signs out. Safety is no accident.
Digital Safety and Mindfulness Assembly (4/15): Please be reminded that the district has arranged for a visit from Mr. Guerry who is a Top Internet, Social Media, Cell Phone Safety, Cyber Bullying and Digital Citizenship Speaker to speak to our students. Middle school is a pivotal time for students to gain awareness of the impact of their online choices and we are hopeful that this presentation will support students as they are learning to navigate the online landscape. Please see the flyer below for an opportunity for families to hear from Mr. Guerry.
Congrats to our Trimester 2 Honor Roll Students posted here.
