A Message from Principal Fernandes
New Chromebook Process at Pioneer Middle School
Beginning this week, each Pioneer student will be assigned an individual Chromebook by their 6th-period teacher. Students will use the same Chromebook each day and will be responsible for taking care of it throughout the school day.
Here is what students and families need to know:
- Each student will be assigned a Chromebook by their 6th-period teacher.
- Each morning, students must pick up their Chromebook from their 6th-period classroom and take it with them throughout the entire school day.
- Students who arrive late will borrow a Chromebook from the main office for the day.
- At the end of each school day, students must return their Chromebook to the correct spot on their 6th-period Chromebook cart.
- Students who leave school early will leave their Chromebook at the attendance desk before departing.
- Students may charge their Chromebook in different classrooms throughout the day. If the battery is running low, they should ask their teacher for help finding a place to charge it.
- A studentโs assigned Chromebook is their responsibility. Students should not allow other students to use their device and are responsible for taking appropriate care of it and avoiding damage.
In general, Chromebooks will remain at school and will be charged overnight so they are ready for students each morning. Chromebooks will only be sent home when specifically arranged through the main office administration.
Our goal with this new process is to provide students with reliable access to technology while also helping them develop responsibility for the tools they use each day.
As part of Belong. Believe. Become., we want our students to become increasingly independent, responsible, and thoughtful members of our school community. Taking care of an assigned Chromebook is one small but important part of that growth.
Thank you for helping us reinforce these expectations at home!
