Morning Safety Reminder Morning Safety Reminder

As our mornings are becoming darker, I want to send an important reminder about morning drop-off procedures and student safety.

We are seeing an increasing number of students being dropped off in the parking lot and walking across traffic to enter through the front doors. With cars entering, exiting, backing out, and moving through the parking lot, this creates an unsafe situation for our students and staff that have to use that parking lot to park.

Please help us keep everyone safe by following these expectations:

  • Students being dropped off in the morning should use the car line.

  • Please do not drop your child off in the parking lot and have them walk to the front entrance.

  • Parents should not pull into the front parking area and walk students to the front doors unless you are bringing something into the school, such as treats or supplies, or need to do so because of a medical condition.

  • Front door is intended for bus riders only due to safety concerns.

  • If you have a JMS and Ireland student, you can go through carline and drop off JMS student at the sidewalk by the green gate on the north east corner of the school to walk to the flagpole, then continue in carline to drop off Ireland student in the cafeteria.

  • If you are simply dropping your child off for school, please use the car line.

I know the car line can sometimes look long when you first arrive, but it moves much faster than you might think! Our staff works hard each morning to keep cars moving efficiently while safely getting students into the building.

This isn't about convenience, it is about making sure we have a safe and predictable traffic pattern for all of our students. We appreciate everyone doing their part, especially as we head into the darker mornings.

Bus drivers, police officer who helps with traffic flow, Mr. Mark, and staff members who have to use the parking lot are all appreciative of your cooperation to follow these rules.

Thank you for helping us keep Ireland students safe!

ILEARN Results (Current 3rd - 5th Grade Parents) ILEARN Results (Current 3rd - 5th Grade Parents)

Be on the lookout for a salmon-colored paper coming home with your child this week! This paper will include your child’s unique login/access information for the Indiana Family Portal.

The Family Portal allows parents to view their child’s ILEARN results from last school year and will also be where you can access results from assessments taken this school year as they become available.

Please keep this salmon-colored paper in a safe place, as you will need the information on it to access your child’s account throughout the year.

The graphic below provides step-by-step information about accessing and using the Family Portal.

As a JA volunteer, you’ll have the opportunity to inspire and educate students about the important concepts of financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. With your guidance, students will gain confidence, build skills, and explore future career possibilities.

As a JA volunteer, you will:

  • Deliver engaging, hands-on lessons designed for our elementary students.
  • Share career and life experiences to inspire and motivate young learners.
  • Foster critical thinking and problem-solving by leading activities that relate to real-world concepts.
  • Make a difference in your community by volunteering just a few hours of your time.

Wildcat Corner Wildcat Corner

Jasper High School is fortunate to have a school-based enterprise (SBE), our school store. SBEs are managed and operated by students as hands-on learning laboratories that integrate standards in marketing, finance, hospitality, human resources, and management. SBEs provide realistic and practical learning experiences that reinforce classroom instruction. The Wildcat Corner is a major learning component in the Business Program. The teacher and coordinator for this program is Mrs. Jessica Mehringer.

The success of the Wildcat Corner depends on the commitment of students in the Small Business and Business Administration Capstone classes as these students are responsible for working in the school store as part of their work based learning experience.

Wildcat Corner Store is OPEN for business. Our website is www.wildcatcornerstore.com

Important Reminders and Updates Important Reminders and Updates

  • School hours are 7:50AM -2:50PM. Students can arrive starting at 7:15AM. Students may not be dropped off prior to 7:15 AM. If you bring your child to school after 7:50 AM, you must escort them to the front doors.

  • We are highly encouraging parents who are bringing their child to school to use the car drop-off drive. If you would like to walk your child in, you will have to say goodbye outside the front doors. It will get congested there as that is where the buses drop-off. We will keep students moving as much as we can. Many staff members will be at all drop-off locations to help students to their appropriate classrooms. Please trust us that we have your child's best well-being in mind at all times.

  • All school supplies are provided by the PTO. Your child only needs a backpack, headphones, and a water bottle. Please write your child's name on all items.

  • Please see nurse Brandi Stiles for prescription medicine intake. All medicine must be accompanied by a parent and include a physician’s prescription. Students are not allowed to transport medicine to school.

  • VERY IMPORTANT- If your child's transportation changes, please notify the office with a note ASAP at iesoffice@gjcs.k12.in.us

Volunteer and Parent Chaperone Background Check

Parent volunteers and field trip chaperones must have a background check completed. Here is the link - https://greater-jasper-consolidated-schools-vol.school-background-checks.com/. We would like to provide some clarification regarding the emails and information you may receive as part of this process.

After completing your volunteer background check, you may receive an automatic email from KidsTrac requesting that you complete a CPI/CPS check. Please be assured that parent volunteers are not required to complete the CPI/CPS check. This additional check is required for school employees only.

The KidsTrac email requesting the CPI/CPS check will expire 10 days after it is sent. You may receive reminder emails during that time; however, please disregard these reminders. They are automatically generated by the company we use to process background checks and do not require any action from parent volunteers.

You may also receive a card indicating that your background check expires in one year. Please disregard the expiration date printed on the card. Volunteer background checks are valid for five years, despite the one-year expiration date shown on the card.

We apologize for any confusion these automated communications may cause and appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to ensure a safe environment for our students.

Thank you for volunteering and for your continued support of our school!

Sincerely,

Dr. Tracy Lorey
