Hidden River Families Helping Hidden River Families: As SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits have been delayed by the prolonged federal government shutdown, Hidden River is working hard to meet the needs of our families. At our school alone, 154 students have families that qualify for SNAP benefits. Our support staff is working to help families find community support and services, and we would also like to collect donations in the form of $20 gift cards to local grocery stores (Aldi, Target, Cub, Walmart) to provide for families with immediate and severe needs. If your family is able to donate, please drop gift cards off in the main office.
If you are a family needing support right now, please reach out to our Social Worker, Nina, at nina.cecere@spps.org
Winter Athletics: If you missed the family meeting this week, please review the slides here. Any questions please reach out to Ms. Nell.

Important Update: Hidden River Relocation in January 2026
Dear Hidden River Families,
The time has arrived! With only six weeks remaining before Winter Break, preparations are ramping up for our exciting move back to the fully renovated Hidden River building at 1700 Summit Avenue. We know that change can cause anxiety, even when it's exciting. We want to ensure this transition is as smooth as possible for every student and family.
Key Relocation Dates Please mark these critical dates on your calendar:
- Last Day at Wilson Building: Friday, December 19, 2025
- Students Return to New Building: Monday, January 5, 2026 (Students will be at the new 1700 Summit Avenue location.)
Student Transition and Preparation. To help students get comfortable in their new space, we are planning structured transition activities the week of December 15–19 leading up to Winter Break with Grade-Level Field Trips (8th grade 12/16, 7th grade 12/17, 6th grade 12/18) students will attend a focused field trip to the new building. During the tour, students will spend a couple of hours with their peers to:
- Tour their new classrooms and common areas.
- Be assigned new lockers.
- Learn the new routines and rituals for lunch, arrival and dismissal.
Our staff and district teams are working hard behind the scenes to ensure everything is ready for a seamless start in January:
- Staff Preparation: Teachers are currently packing non-essential items, and boxes are being moved weekly. Last week, staff reviewed new classroom technology and essential safety and security measures.
- Cafeteria: Our Cafeteria staff has toured the new kitchen and will be fully prepared to serve lunches on January 5, 2026.
- Transportation (Buses): Communications regarding new bus routes are being finalized and will be shared with families very soon. Please watch for a separate, important communication regarding transportation changes.
We know families are eager to see the new space! You will have the opportunity to tour the building at our official Ribbon Cutting ceremony on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. More details about this event will follow soon.
We are incredibly excited to start the new year in our permanent, beautiful, and newly renovated home! Thank you for your patience and support during this transition. Please feel free to reach out with any questions you may have.
Sincerely,
Teresa Vibar

Classroom Updates
8th Grade Students
Choir & Guitar - Ms. Schuck
Greetings Parents and Guardians,
Students in Choir and Beginning Guitar have been working very hard in preparation for their December 15th concert. Each class has a different set of songs, so there will be a wide variety of repertoire. Students are encouraged to listen to the concert music outside of class to become more familiar with the songs. The songs are posted at the top of the Schoology class page.
The mandatory concert is on December 15th at 6:30pm in the Gymnasium. Concert information should have been brought home in the first few weeks of school in the Syllabus.
Reminder on the Concert dress code: Students must wear all black, if possible. Students may choose to wear an optional “pop of blue” to represent Hidden River. Students are asked to dress nicely, as we are representing Hidden River.
Feel free to contact me any time either via email with any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Ms. Schuck

HRMS November Family Question of the Month
As a school that receives Title I funding from the federal government, we are required to survey families regularly about what is working for them and how we can better support them. The easiest way to share it is by answering our Question of the Month. It's just one question! Click Here: November Question of The Month - Share an example of how communication from school is working well for you.
Family-Staff Organization (FSO)
Please help our FSO support Hidden River's students, staff and community with a donation! Online giving encouraged through https://www.givemn.org/organization/Hiddenriver. Cash and check donations accepted in the Main Office and at events. See attached flyer on our Give To The Max campaign goals.
Also Save the Date for our next FSO meeting on November 20th (which happens to be Give to the Max Day!). More details in next week's newsletter.
Note from the Health Office
If your child is in 7th grade, they will have a vision screening at school on Wednesday, November 19 by Phillips Eye Institute’s Early Youth Eyecare (E.Y.E.) Community Initiative, part of Allina Health. This screening is designed to identify issues with your child’s vision. If your child does not pass the vision screening, you will be notified to have your child examination by an eye doctor for further evaluation.
E.Y.E. can assist with scheduling the examination, as well as provide interpreter services, transportation and financial assistance with exams and glasses.
If you have questions or do not want your child to participate in the vision screening, please contact Mary K. Green RN, LSN (school nurse) at 651-888-7657.
