Darker Mornings Are Coming. Be Prepared!

As you are aware, the Province of Manitoba has opted to end the time change and is staying on standard time, which means that it is getting much darker in the morning.

Families please consider these safety precautions to ensure students are safe and protected on their way to school:

  • parents, plan out a route to school with your student that is brightly lit
  • students are reminded to use sidewalks whenever they are available
  • wearing bright coloured clothing, or adding reflective tape to backpacks or jackets will help increase visibility
  • walking students should look both ways before crossing any uncontrolled intersection.
  • don't assume that vehicles can see you in the dark
  • students are reminded to follow the instructions of crossing guards at all times

As well, drivers are reminded to

  • adhere to school zone speed limits,
  • drive with extra caution in areas where students are making their way to school.
  • follow the directions of crossing guards at all crosswalks
  • watch for students on the side of the road waiting for buses
  • come to a complete stop when bus stop signs are out and flashing.

Thank you for your support as we work together to ensure students

Remembrance Day Ceremony on Tuesday Nov 10

On Tuesday, our school will pause to remember the sacrifices of Canadian Forces past and present to preserve our freedom and way of life in Canada. We look forward to hearing from our guest speaker Warrent Officer Caitlyn McManus. Due to the limited space available in our school, our Remembrance Day ceremony will be closed to the public. We encourage families to take time to honour and remember in your own way on Remembrance Day, Nov 11.

November 23 Workshop - HOPE

HOPE (Helping Other Parents Everywhere) is offering a free workshop on November 23:

5 Tips for Better Communicating with Your Teen or Young Adult.

This workshop is a great opportunity for parents and caregivers to gain practical communication tools, learn more about HOPE, and discover how our peer support groups can help them navigate challenges at home.

Families, please avoid sending large dollar bill amounts ($10.00 bills, 20.00 bills etc) for canteen purchases. There is a spending cap of ~ $5.00 at the canteen. The canteen does not have the capacity to "break" large bills or create change for them. Please send smaller dollar amounts ($5.00 bills, toonies, loonies) to school with your child if you plan to have them access the canteen to supplement their lunch
