Back to School Night is September 3 Back to School Night is September 3

Please make plans to join us here at RBHS on Wednesday, September 3rd for our annual Back to School Night. This is a chance for all RBHS Families to walk their student's schedule and spend a little time hearing from their teachers directly.

The evening begins at 5:30 with an optional meeting in our Main Gym. In this meeting you will meet the RBHS Administration Team, RBHS Counseling Team, and the CACC Administrative Team. At 6:00 pm we begin our round of A day classes. Families will be able to walk their student's A day schedule followed by their B day schedule, and we will use our bell system to indicate the start and end of each class. During each period, there is a brief window of time for families to hear directly from Rock Bridge High School teachers about each specific class. Back to School Night will end at 7:31.

Families will be able to enter this event from the north, main, and south entrances. Please bring a copy, or screen shot, of your student's schedule to this event. We will have RBHS Building Maps available at all three entrances to assist your navigation of the evening.

2025-26 RBHS Attendance Goal 2025-26 RBHS Attendance Goal

The state of Missouri wants all schools to have 90% of students in attendance 90% of the time. Last year, we had approximately 82.8% of students in attendance 90% of the time. This was a slight increase from the year before, and we are proud of this growth. This year we want to raise this number by 3% points moving our overall percentage of students who attend 90% or greater to 85%. A student would need to miss 25 days of school in single year to have attendance lower than 85%. We are confident that we can achieve our goal!

We need your help. Please talk as a family about the importance of good attendance in school. When students are not in seat, they can fall behind in their learning. Help us keep your student(s) caught up in their classes by sending them to school every day. The start of the year is the best, and easiest, time to begin good attendance habits. Please reach out to your student's administrator or counselor if you have questions or need support for this purpose.

Focused Notetaking at RBHS Focused Notetaking at RBHS

At Rock Bridge High School this year, we have a building goal related to the instruction of note taking skills. We are working to implement Focused Note Taking Phases 1, 2, and 3 in all of our classrooms. Focused Note Taking can help students improve their comprehension, retention of information, and their study skills. We know that good note taking skills are very important for student organization and recording of required content, but the notes we take also become the best method for future ownership of learning. When we make a record of our learning, we must come back to it later in the interest of committing that learning to long term memory. Our work with Focused Note Taking emphasizes both the initial record and a wide variety of methods for returning to our notes and re-engaging with them so that we can make strong connections in our brains for the purpose of retention. Below is a link with some information about Focused Note Taking. Please talk with your student about the notes they are taking in classes at RBHS and how they are using those notes to remember critical information.

Important Safety Measures at RBHS Important Safety Measures at RBHS

As we begin the school year, we want to take a moment to remind you of all we are doing to keep our Rock Bridge High School safe for our students.

First, we operate a weapons detection system (WDS) at both our main and north entrances all school day. Both of these entrances is staffed with dedicated safety personnel. All visitors to our building must enter through the same WDS that our students enter through. Visitors must also submit a valid ID that is vetted through our Raptor Visitor System to ensure that visitor is not a safety risk to our students. Please keep this in mind when/if you need to visit our school during the school day.

Second, we only allow the entering and exiting of our building through our main and north entrance during school hours. We recognize that this is an inconvenience to some; however, it is the only way we can guarantee that a non-approved visitor does not enter our building without going through the Raptor System and our WDS. Please take a moment to talk with your student about why this is important. Students who are using nonapproved exits and entrances during the school day will receive school consequences.

Finally, we teach and learn behind locked doors. All classrooms at RBHS have doors that remain in the locked position. Teachers open doors during passing periods and close them once class begins. This practice keeps our staff and students in a constant state of preparedness for safety responses.
