Ott's Outlook
September 2026
In my almost 15 years in Temple ISD, I have spent hours in classrooms across the district and have seen excellent teaching and learning taking place throughout that time. It gives me so much pride to see all of that hard work reflected in the state accountability ratings that were released in August.
Temple ISD received a B rating as a district in this year’s Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) accountability ratings. Temple ISD’s B rating is one of the highest district ratings in the area, especially among districts comparable to Temple’s size and demographics.
Temple High School received an A rating this year, improving by 11 points, and Edwards Academy is an A rated campus for the third year in a row. Temple ISD had five other campuses earn B ratings in Bonham Middle School, Travis Science Academy, Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy, Kennedy-Powell Elementary School, and Scott Elementary School. Jefferson Elementary School improved by 17 points in the latest ratings, multiple campuses improved by a full letter grade, and TISD had no failing schools. Temple ISD and its campuses also combined to earn 26 total distinctions in different subject areas, growth, and post-secondary readiness.
We are so proud of our students, staff, and families, for their accomplishments. But they are not a surprise to those of us who see the commitment and dedication in our classrooms every day. For many years, our teachers and instructional aides have been relentless in their pursuit of closing gaps and improving student achievement outcomes. These ratings represent years of capacity building, hard work, refined instructional processes and support. We have also realized that it takes a special talent to work in Temple ISD; and have been very selective in who we recruit and retain to serve here.
Temple ISD is a destination district – whether community-aligned values, advanced academics, student opportunities, safe schools, fine arts, athletics, or career and technical education. Our students are receiving an exceptional education, while our staff takes advantage of expert training and is supported personally and professionally. Our families, students, local businesses, community members, and staff have created something special in Temple ISD.
We are truly blessed to have a supportive community that rallies behind our students and staff to create an organization that meets their expectations. Without the ongoing support from our community, these successes would not be possible. This is just one of the many reasons why families choose Temple ISD!
Sincerely,
Bobby Ott
