Arizona Virtual Academy|Attendance

We're excited to introduce PowerSchool attendance for Learning Coaches. This new method is designed to make tracking and submitting attendance easier by:

• Saving attendance entries as you submit
• Clearly identifying weekends and school breaks
• Making it easy to enter attendance for multiple students in one place

• Learning Coach attendance is an important part of accurately documenting your student's entire school day.
• The attendance you submit captures the total time your student spends on learning activities, including both online and offline coursework.
• Be sure to log all educational activities to ensure your student's attendance reflects their full instructional day.

#1. Course Activity = logging into each course, each day, and completing learning activities such as lessons, quizzes, or assignments

#2. Live Class Connect = attending any live session with teachers or staff members

#3. Offline Activities = completing schoolwork or activities that contribute to your student's learning during the school day; this also includes things like recess, lunch or snack time, and regular breaks

#4. Recorded Class Connect = watching any published recordings from live sessions with teachers or staff members

#5. In-Person Opportunities = school events, work-based learning, concurrent enrollment, or required testing

1. Navigate to http://arizonak12.powerschool.com/, click Parent Sign In
2. Enter your Learning Coach Username and password. For help resetting your password, click the "Need help logging in?" button or click here.
3. If Powerschool does not let you sign in, submit an Incident Report Form.
4. Follow the remaining steps in the video.

Use the button below to log your student's total hours completed each day.

Notes:

• This should be the total number of hours engaged in the activities above.
• Save your student's ID in a safe place for easy entry.
• Bookmark this link in your phone or computer.

Important:

• Only Legal Guardians and Learning Coaches may complete the form.
• Improper use of the form, including student use, will result in a parent-admin meeting and potential withdrawal for lack of student engagement.

Each Sunday, Learning Coaches receive an email and/or text regarding their students' attendance.

• Communication is sent every Sunday, including during school breaks and holidays, in case the student completes any work during the break.

• Receipt of text messages is dependent on your phone carrier and if you have previously opted out of communication.
• Emails (specifically Gmail accounts) may be sent to other folders.

Important:

• To ensure you receive weekly emails, please save azattendance@k12.com in your contact lists.
• Starting 8/17, you can also email this inbox directly with attendance questions or concerns.

See the resources below for instructions on logging attendance in Canvas. Attendance entered in canvas is per course per day.

Note: Attendance entered via a different method will not reflect in Canvas.

It is not a problem if you exceed the suggested daily hours.

Potential Factors supporting Attendance Notice(s) and/or Withdrawal:

• Less than 90% of attendance logged by Learning Coach.
• More than 10 Incomplete Minor Assignments.
• More than 4 Incomplete Major Assignments.
• Missing Course Activity for 10+ Consecutive Days
• Limited Course Activity over 20 Day Period.
